Windows 10: Alienware x51 Black screen with cursor while installing Windows 10

Discus and support Alienware x51 Black screen with cursor while installing Windows 10 in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; i also have a alienware x51 and have/had the same problem after lots of fiddling i gave up and reinstalled windows 8.1 from a factory image i made....     Exact same problem here. I did a System Restore with my 8.1 DVD's. And then starting setting the entire computer back up again. Very frustrating...

    1. alienware x51 has an onboard graphics HDMI port hidden behind a small plastic plug. i needed to use the edge of a sharp knife to pry this out
    2. connected a monitor to the onboard graphics HDMI port and voila I can see my login screen

    I am still trying to figure out how to convince windows 10 to disable the intel on board graphics display and only use the NVidia card. currently it is using the onboard intel graphics for the login screen and after login my alienware outputs graphics to both the on board and NV graphics, but the system appears to be too unintelligent to let the two graphics subsystems talk to each other. So i currently have two graphics subsystems that both appear to think they are the only graphics on the PC.

    ha ha. way to go Microsoft & NVidia!
