Windows 10: All audio lowers when people in call or in game speak

Hello, I am having an issue with my audio automatically lowering whenever someone speaks, then going back up when everyone is quiet. I have done all the steps in the reply to this thread here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/all-audio-lowers-when-hearing-a-voice/4fb26a4f-b5b3-4ede-bc4e-1dd556275151 the solutions that were different anyways however the issue still persists. I have also updated Windows 10 to the latest optional version, and I've made sure to check attenuation settings in Discord and made sure they are off. It happens with Discord audio, Valorant teamm

What is the Make and the Model of the Audio device?



I suggest you to try the following methods and check:



Method 1 : Hardware Troubleshooter.

Please follow the below step.

• Type "Troubleshooting" without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
• Select "Hardware and Sound" from the Troubleshooter Window.
• Select "Hardware and Devices" under Devices option.
• Follow the On Screen instructions.

Method 2: Fix sound problems in Windows 10

Method 3: Install Generic Audio Driver.

• Type device manager into the search box on the taskbar, and then type Device Manager.
• Select Device Manager>Expand the Audio Driver.
• Right click on Audio device > Click on Update driver.
• Browse my computer for driver software.
• Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my PC.
  
  Choose to High Definition Audio Device.
• Click next and then follow the rest of the instructions to install it
• Restart the PC and check if the Audio works fine.

Can’t hear audio while recording games or videos

We will need some more information to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps. Please reply with the following details:

• How are you recording the games or videos?
  
• When you say, “I can't hear anything” you are unable to get the in-game audio or your voice?
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

If you are using Game bar to record the games or videos, I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + I to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Gaming.
   
3. Click on Capture on the left pane.
   
4. Clear the check box for Record gaming audio only.
   
5. Follow the same steps for Broadcasting.

Sound Lowers when I launch games

Hi Eric,

Thank you for replying with the status of the issue.

I would suggest you to uninstall the audio drivers and restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

If the issue persists once again uninstall the audio drivers and then visit the manufacturer website and download and install the latest drivers and check if the issue gets resolved.

Follow the steps to uninstall the drivers.

• Press Windows key + R key.
• Type devmgmt.msc and press
  Enter.
• In device manager go to Sound, video and game controller.
• Right click and uninstall.

Also update the motherboard chipset drivers from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.
