Windows 10: All brightness options have disappeared from my PC.

My PC brightness is stupidly high, but I can't change it. There is no brightness option in the Settings app, no brightness option in the action center, and when I go to change my power plan settings, all the brightness-related settings are nonexistent. I have looked in my graphics card settings, and the closest thing to a brightness option is the ability to de-saturate the colors on my screen. I am an artist, and I am not doing this as it will throw off my color picking. I have also updated my graphics card drivers, monitor drivers, etc. I have no idea what to do. Using the brightness buttons on the keyboard also does not work. Please help me!

No brightness setting in the display center. When I click "changing screen brightness" in the corner, it prompts me to re-open the settings app, and I am given this exact same window.




When attempting to change the power options, there is no brightness setting. All of my drivers are up-to-date.



The brightness slider in the Windows Mobility Center does nothing.


Additionally, searching up "brightness" in the settings app directs me to the Display page, but every time, there is no brightness option.


Please help me. My eyes can't take much more of this.

To adjust the brightness, see the steps below:

• Go back to Power Options, and tick on the High performance.
• See if you can adjust the brightness.

If this not work, we highly suggest that you create an Administrator account, and re-do the steps above.

To change your Windows 10 monitor brightness, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Click the Windows logo; then, search for Control Panel.
• Select Hardware and Sound.
• Choose Power Options.
• On the next screen you should see brightness slider at the bottom of the Control Panel window.

Brightness resets after reboot

Hi Marc,

In addition to the troubleshooting step that you have already done, we suggest that you try disabling the adaptive brightness from your PC. Follow the steps below and see if it resolves the issue:

• From the Search bar, type Power Options.
• Click Power Options from the result. Under Preferred plans, click
  Change plan settings.
• Click Change advanced power settings and select Enable adaptive brightness to turn it
  ON or OFF.

After saving the changes, restart your PC and check if issue still occurs.
