  1. All browsers slow after update, not affecting VM.

Ever since the most recent update to Windows I've been experiencing extremely slow page load times on Chrome, Firefox and Edge. What I find most interesting is that when I load my Linux VM on the same Windows machine, Firefox in the VM loads at normal speeds,I've cleared my history and cookies on all three browsers, with no change to page load speed. I've run my Avira Prime antivirus and used CCleaner to check for registry problems and remove trackers.Loading YouTube on Firefox in native Windows: 47 secondsLoading YouTube on Firefox in VMWare Pro running Linux : ~1.5 secondsTo be clear, this h

Running your Browser in a VM?

    • Install VMware Player or Virtualbox, VMware being faster in my experience
    • Create a VM with sufficent RAM HD and all CPU cores
    • Install Ubuntu/Linux Mint/Debian or some lightweight distro with Xcfe or LXDE
    • Install VMware/Virtualbox tools
    • Almost any distro comes with Firefox
    • Install Ublock Origin/Noscript/Ghostery
    • Disable cookies with a whitelist/use private browsing.
In my experience, running a browser through a VM can slow down scrolling smoothness, video playback and increase ping delay

Running your Browser in a VM?

You can run a browser in a VM just fine, depending on the VM and hardware integration for said VM you may or may not have 3d acceleration support if that matters. Also how you plan to access that VM could affect browsing performance for video streaming and browser games if those matter.

Internet trashing cookies? Set your browser to not accept cookies unless you authorize? Most sites will have a popup stating to view their site you must accept cookies for that site...allow those ones you want to view. Can't say I have much for issues browsing the web in Chrome or Vivaldi. When Vivaldi fully integrates sync I'll likely fully migrate over or close to it.

    Update Freezing Web Browsers

    Hi,

There may be some browser components that do not sit well with the new updates installed on your computer. Before we can resolve the error, please answer these questions for us to understand what happens:

    • Do you get any error messages when the browsers freeze?
    • Are Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge affected?
    • Does the problem occur when you access a specific site?

We suggest you delete the browser history, or completely reset the browsers that are affected.

Let us know if the suggestions fix the problem.

Come back if you need more help.
