  1. All browsers stop working many times daily requiring reboot.

I'm running the latest updated version of Windows 10 Pro 1903.
Browsers I use: Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Vivaldi All up to date
    Ethernet network. No WiFi
Computer: Self built based on Asus TUF 7370-Pro MoBo/16Gb RAM/Intel i7 CPU/GeForce GTX 1060 graphics.

What happens: Numerous times throughout the day all of my browsers stop working. They act as if they have lost connection to the internet, but the internet connection is still live and working for at least my messenger app Trillian that I use to communicate with employees.

The problem started out of the blue at least a couple months ago. It's totally random. Some days it happens only a couple times. Some days it happens a dozen times or more. I didn't have the problem for a couple weeks, then it came back a few days ago. The only thing that fixes it is a reboot.

I have read many other threads of people having the same issue.

I have tried many, many things to fix it. Most of which I can't even remember any more. I have spent many, many hours researching and trying different "solutions", the latest being this one:

netsh winsock reset - and press Enter.
netsh int ip reset - and press Enter.
ipconfig / release - and press Enter.
ipconfig / renew - and press Enter.
ipconfig / flushdns - and press Enter

You can also try to reset your DNS service with the following steps:
    - Press the Windows key + R and type "services.msc" and press OK.
    - Scroll down to find the DNS client.
    - Right click on it and click Restart.

Some suggested that when they stopped using Chrome, they didn't have the problem. This hasn't worked for me.

What I am seeing in Event Viewer is LOTS of "Windows security auditing" activity just before the browsers stop working. Sometimes there are scores of entries sometimes over a hundred all at the exact same time, or within just a couple seconds. If that's normal, then I have no idea what's causing this, but would really like to get it fixed without having to do a clean install of Windows and starting over.

    :)

Taskhost is stopping ... device install reboot required

    • While I was not directed to do this, I have found the same problem. I think that the order is reversed, but either way, they go together. When I get the Task Host error, it is followed by the Menu and Cortana problems.
    • I cannot get into settings or cortana. Right click also doesn't work.
    • I am running 1709 OS build 16299.125, on a 64 bit install. Installing 1709 has been a disaster. I have finally gotten to the point where I can load windows with Networking, and sharing working. My PC is an ACER with last year's I5 processor - I did not
expect compatibility issues with a recent machine.
    • Task Host failed with this noted \Microsoft\windows\deviceDirectoryClient\RegisterUserDevice.
    • Then it failed with Plug and play\device Install REboot Required.
    • I think that another problem is related... I also found that SFC \scannow and DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth stopped working until I started Windows Modules Installer and restarted
    • Also, the site that suggested that also said that Net start trustedinstaller from cmd.exe at admin level, could do the same.
Since they also stopped again, I though that would fix the menu start and cortana and right click problems.

I am about to try to reboot again.

All browsers stop working many times daily requiring reboot.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond All browsers stop working many times daily requiring reboot. :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
