Windows 10: All files in Desktop are hidden, but are visible in the File Explorer> Desktop

Hi all,My wife cleaned up my keyboard in the afternoon and then all the files on the desktop are not visible anymore, but they are visible in File Explorer > desktop. So I'm wondering if there are any shortcuts or settings that are causing this. Here are the steps I've tried:1. On the desktop, right-click and create a new file. It is invisible, but visible in the Desktop folder File Explorer2. Restart my device, the situation still happens.3. Switch to another Windows user profile, all files are visible on the desktop.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

With show hidden files activated, how do I stop a specific hidden file on from showing the desktop?

I have "show hidden files" turned on and 99.9% of the time, no problem. But I do not want hidden files to show on the desktop and the usual Hide Selected Items option does not appear to work IF the file was a hidden one to begin with.

Desktop.ini is a hidden file that I can see in Explorer because Show Hidden Files is active.

But it is also visible on the desktop. Using View/Hide Selected Item will not hide it.

As View to Hide Selected Item does work for everything else on the desktop, I'm guessing there must be some other setting required. ??

Cannot find Desktop Icon in File Explorer

Now that is interesting. If I do what you suggest, File Explorer Address bar changes to C:\Users\username\documents and the missing ICONS are there. But there is still not a "Desktop" folder.

Is this a step in the right direction?

 

Cant Delete Files From Desktop

Well, ran into a weird bug with vista, for some reason i cant delete files from desktop, this normaly happens to .exe files, the ONLY fix seems to be to KILL explorer.exe, and delete the file, then restat explorer, anybody got any idea why this happens?
