    Is this different since version 2004 or was it the same in previous version of Windows 10. You are using File Explorer I assume.

    Can you go to Disk Management and post a screenshot showing the external storage. Also right click one file, select Properties and post a screenshot.

    Try ejecting the drive, wait a few minutes then plug it back in again.
