Mikey, considering how many problems you are receiving I would just make a note of all the errors, take the warranty receipt and head to the store where you bought it and say you want a new one.

Also remember to backup your important files and folders before you leave, this is what I would recommend.

And also you didn't buy a product for it be faulty after a couple of months.

Or you could also try to go back to Windows 7 and see if the problem lies in Windows 10.

  2. Second purchase of the same laptop. 1st one had same BSOD so after 1 week I returned it and got a replacement. This one lasted 3 months lol. I am sick, spent $1300 on this thing and it has too many issues.

Does the store have any similar laptop that you could change it to?

That's what we have talked about earlier .... it is a feature for which makes your computer costlier and causes a lot of issues in return.

Frankly speaking, there is no miracle solution, until and unless you can unlock the BIOS, disable Optimus, stop graphics switching, and use the dedicated GPU as the only graphics unit like the desktops. Dont expect for a miracle solution, because there is no other solution.

Download the Chipset driver and USB3 (XHCI) driver from vendors page, install those. Does it dork?

If not, boot into the BIOS, set it to default/optimized default, boot back to windows. Does it work?

If not, perform a clean reinstall. Does it work?

If not, the next step is to force reset the BIOS by removing and re-inserting the CMOS battery; but that will make the warranty void.

Latter, prefer to buy a laptop with Intel HD graphics only.

  6. Well guys I wanted to give everyone an update, and it's a GOOD UPDATE.

As you all know, nothing was working and I was at my wits end. No matter what I tried, as soon as I loaded a game and quit my computer eventually froze and went to the BSOD within minutes. I was this close to trying to get store credit at least and get a new laptop. Arc mentioned that these NVidia cards are more trouble than they are worth and I couldn't agree more. My last laptop I bought in 2011 and it lasted 4 years. It only had intel hd graphics but I never used it for games and it worked fine.

So I saw on NVidia's web page that they had a new update. I tried it but still the same BSOD's.

About a week ago I decided to scroll down Toshiba's driver updates and I noticed back in December there were 2 NVidia driver updates for my laptop. I had the newest one installed when the BSOD's started happening so I thought what the heck, let me install the 1st December NVidia driver update. AND VOILA, IT WORKED!!!

So I have had no problems at all since I installed my Toshiba NVidia driver update and I am so pleased. Everything seems to be working fine, I can play many games and no crashes and no BSOD'S(knock on wood). It's weird how it's an older update from Toshiba that fixed it but whatever works right??

I'm gonna keep this driver until Toshiba comes out with a brand new NVidia driver update and even then I might be scared to try it lol.

Thanks to Arc, Axe0, Boris who tried to help me through this mess and ironically Axe0 was initially right about using my manufacturers drivers instead of from the NVidia website.

    You are really lucky. *Smile

Usually OEM does not provide driver updates over that a long time. But as you got it, it is good.
    And from Optimus Whitepaper:
    Attachment 73006
In most of the cases we see that the vendor provided driver starts causing this issue, being an old driver and no possible updates are with them. Yes, they also cause the issue, because .....
    Attachment 73007
Optimus is not totally free form this issue yet.

Whatever, all is well that ends well. If you see that the issue is really over, please mark it as solved. *Smile

Yeah I feel lucky Arc. Appreciate all your help. Just a quick note, there hasn't been a nvidia driver update from Toshiba for this laptop since December so I guess it is safe to assume there won't be anymore huh? This is a fairly new laptop so I thought it was surprising that since late December there has been no new Toshiba nvidia driver updates. I have also read that there are tons of issues with laptops trying to play games compared to desktops - tons. Your articles are so telling.

Now though I am having some stuttering issues watching youtube videos in 1080p and 4k using chrome. That never happened before. I wonder if the older nvidia driver might be a cause. if I use Edge or IE there are no issues. I tried disabling flash, disabling hardware acceleration, etc... still stuttery. I know this isn't the right thread for this but thought maybe it might be related to this by the driver thing.

    Hi adnansukmana,

    Welcome to the 10forums *Smile

Ultimately @Mikey5Aces installed the drivers that his laptop manufacturer provided which solved the problem *Smile

Please read my reply in your thread.
