Both of my front panel audio jacks don't work as well as the three audio jacks on my motherboard. I have tried updating Windows and my drivers and I have manually installed the newest Realtek drivers directly from both the MSI website and from Realtek itself. My Realtek audio console is able to detect when I plug in headphones/speakers and microphone into my pc, yet no audio is outputted when I switch to the headphones/speakers they are selected as the default device and no sound is recognized when I select my microphone as the default device. Am I missing some part of the equation or could

    audio jack problems

    Hi,

Windows allows disabling of a certain port if you want to or if you need to. To disable a headphone or speaker audio jack, kindly follow these steps:

    • Right-click the Sound or Volume icon on the lower-left side of your screen.
    • Select Playback devices.
    • Right-click on the playback device that you want to disable and click
      Disable
      .

    To disable a microphone jack:

    • Right-click the Sound or Volume icon on the lower-left side of your screen.
    • Select Recording devices.
    • Right-click on the recording device that you want to disable and click
      Disable
      .

Also, we recommend taking your PC to a technician for the removal of the audio jack that is stuck so that, you'll be able to use the port again.

Should you have more concerns, feel free to post.

    Regards.

Dell XPS 8900 Desktop: Audio Jacks Hookup Question ?

    Hello,

Really totally confused about this, and would be most appreciative for some help and suggestions on.

Have a new Dell XPS 8900 desktop PC.
Has Realtek integrated audio, apparently. (ALC3861 7.1)
I imagine it’s pretty much the same setup for all of their PC’s with Realtek integrated audio.

Presently use the Green output jack in the rear to feed a pair of Logitech Desktop Z-200 desktop speakers. Works just fine.

I would like to now add the following:

Have an output from a radio (Home Patrol scanner) that has a Line-Out
Jack. Would like to feed this into pc, and be able to select either the normal
pc audio (which now is outputted on the green jack) OR this new input.

    a. What input jack on the pc should I use for the radio’s output (Line Out) ?
I’m thinking the BLUE one. Is this correct ?

I would want it to also, of course, be outputted on the green jack to the desktop speakers.

    b. I looked all over of every pc screen I could think of, but could find no option
for selecting (switching) between the pc normal output, and this new extra
    audio input.

Where and how do I do this selectio/switching, please ? Caveats in doing ?

    Much thanks,
    Bob

All of my audio jacks are not functional on my desktop

    Computer's Audio Jacks Stopped Working

The audio jacks stopped working and it is not a hardware problem.

    1. Multiple headsets do not get audio output from both of the audio jacks on the computer and the headsets are confirmed to be working, so it's the computer's problem.
    2. The audio output through a DisplayPort monitor's audio jack and monitors' speakers still work, so the computer can still produce audio. The monitor's audio jack is not an option.
    3. Both audio jacks stopped working at the same time despite only one being in use, so it's not hardware.
What is the problem and what is the solution?
