Windows 10: All of my folders are read only and when I change them they all go back to read only, how...

Setting your important or personal files to read-only can help protect them from unintentional or unauthorized changes. When a file is set to read-only, it cannot be changed.

• Right-click the file or folder you want to set to read-only, and then click
  Properties.
• Click the General tab, select the Read-only check box, and then click
  OK.

If you need to make changes to the file or folder later, you can turn off the read-only setting by clearing the
Read-only check box.

All Folders Read Only

All folders seem to be listed as Read Only.

Do not have third party antivirus.

Yes, I already checked Permissions and Ownership

Yes, I have already followed every tutorial and suggestion on this site.

 

Read only folder

Hi Kiran,

Your suggestion does not work. The folder I am trying to change is c:\users\jim\appdata\local\temp. This folder cannot be read only due to a chat client I am running and have to be able to save files to that folder specifically.

In addition, I have changed that folders attributes several times and it changes back to what it was before I made the change. When I was running Windows 7 this was not an issues, in fact, I could change any folder's attributes regardless where they were
located and they would stay changed. By the way, the box for read only is marked by a small square box in the check box, not indicated by a check mark.

I have changed permissions for my profile so that I have full control over that folder and yet, it still remains read only. This MUST change!
