Windows 10: All of my USB inputs stop working until I force restart my PC

    All of my USB inputs stop working until I force restart my PC


    Once every other day I will have all of my USB inputs freeze and stop working but the lights on everything is still on, I can't type with my keyboard or move my mouse or hear through my headset but if I have a video playing it will continue and I can see new notifications pop up so it is just with my USB devices.

    USB 2.0 INPUT SUDDENLY WILL NOT WORK WITH USB 3.0

    Since this is the case and the mouse is still not responding properly to your inputs when plugged
    into a USB 3.0 port, we suggest that you attempt to manually update the device drivers in Windows 10 by following the steps on this link. This will provide a step by step guide on how you can manually uninstall a device driver and reinstall the
    device driver afterwards. Refer to the last section of the page provided for the manual uninstall steps.

    USB 2.0 Ports Stopped working

    Hello,

    I recently noticed my USB 2.0 ports have stopped working, but my USB 3.0 port is functioning perfectly.

    Steps i have tried:

    - Restarting

    - Searching for device changes in Device manager

    - running troubleshooter

    all these suggested fixes didn't remedy the issue, its a bit of an inconvenience that i only have one functioning USB port

    Sennheiser GSP 350. Microphone stops working when I open any game

    Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

    It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

    Step by step fix:
    • I went into recording devices
    • I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
    • Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't
    Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?
