I hope I am in the right thread for this and I apologize if I'm not.

All of my updates are failing since March 31/17. My default apps keep reverting to the windows default apps. Just last weekend I did a restore and had to reinstall all my programs because the latest version of windows wouldn't update.

I'm running Windows 10 Home version 15063.11 and it's trying to update to 16170. All cumulative updates have failed to install since March 31, 2017 except for KB4016250 which installed on April 1/17 after a couple of trys.

    Thanks for any help

    Loopy

    :)

Script error in FAI.music.metaservices.microsoft.com ever since newest update released for Windows 10:

All security zones in Internet Explorer were already set to the defaults. Clicking on "Reset" in the Advanced Options dialogue box to fully reset IE to all of its defaults (I also checked to box to remove my personal settings), and then restarting my
PC, did the trick. The most recent, major update of Windows 10 OS must have changed things in Internet Explorer (it reset/deleted other software settings that I had to go back in and redo afterwards) because, before that, FAI had been working fine in WMP.
I went back into IE and rechecked/restored my personal settings again without causing any new problems for FAI, so I'd be curious to know what exactly got "fixed" by resetting IE to its defaults. Anyway, now I have something to try if FAI has problems again
in the future. Thanks very much for your help, Tim!

Why bother ? Just upgrade to the Creators Update and bypass what will soon be out of date apps and updates. Go here to get the new OS - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
Hit Download tool now, then read 2nd section (how to create installation media) and use Step 5.
Run the media creation tool setup, choose create installation media then ISO file. Put this on your desktop, r-click "Mount" then run setup.exe from the folder that opens and you'll have a fresh copy of the newest Windows 10 to use (about 2 hr process), as if you had a store bought installation disk. Burn it to DVD or usb in case you need to reinstall in future.

This process is basically Step 4 of this tutorial and you'll see all the screens in Step 6 -
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
    Good Luck

Thanks for the help Mrgeek but after downloading and creating the media, it wasn't the creator's edition. Since I'm running the home edition already it just wants to install the Windows 10 Home again which I already have.

    Thanks anyway.

The Creators Edition is availble as the Home version. I'm running it myself.

"after downloading and creating the media, it wasn't the creator's edition"

I used that same link to download and use on 5 computers remotely already. It IS the Creators Update. If you mount the ISO, r-click setup.exe, Properties, then Details tab and File Version should match this -

" it just wants to install the Windows 10 Home again "

Home only means it downloaded best match but latest version. You have to use my MS link above since the MCT is updated so an old MCT will not retrieve most current. Even if it isn't Creators, which it is, you can STILL use the ISO to repair your current install by reinstalling the OS which is why I suggest that you keep the ISO or Dvd or usb stored for future use. For your situation today, if you can get to your desktop, you only need the ISO, no need for a dvd or usb copy.
