Windows 10: All Windows 365 apps fail to open with "We're sorry, but [appname] has run into an...

All of my Windows 365 programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) show the following error when launched "We're sorry but [app name] has run into an error...". I'm given the option to Repair Now or Close. Clicking on Repair Now does not resolve the problem, the app shuts down. This is a new issue which began on 7/17/2019. Previously all Windows 365 programs ran without problems.

Simultaneously, Windows 10 (latest update available) now says its not activated. This was a free upgrade so I have no activation code to enter. When I attempt to troubleshoot the activation issue I get an error code of 0xc0000022.

Both of these issues have to be related as the both occurred on the same date.


All attempts to resolve either of these issues using solutions found on this forum have failed. Help!

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Windows 10 Office 365 cannot open files from: recent file list


Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
