  1. Allocate 500 mbs of system partition.

For the past month, I haven't been able to update my Windows 10. The error code I get is 0x800f0922. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-update-error-0x800f0922/87a78355-1a84-4e0f-a0be-28f99a075e50 This is the linked solution that I found, yet when I try it nothing works. So according to the link, one issue could also be that I have less than 500 MBs of the system partitions. So I tried using AOMEI partition assistant to fix it yet my system partition caps at 260 MBs or 257.86 MBs to be exact. Why is this and is there a way to fix it?

    :)

  2. System Reserved Partition on Disk 1 not Disk 0

The results were the same as before: Windows is installed in a single 477 GB partition on Disk 0 and the System Reserved is in a 500 MB partition on Drive 1. The rest of Drive 1 is unallocated. This is identical to the configuration I had when I asked the
    question.

The Media Creation Tool used to created the install ISO DVD is v. 10.0.14393 downloaded on 12/13/2016.

    I followed your instructions:

    • I selected Drive 0 and deleted the existing Windows partition.
    • I clicked New and Apply. Windows then formatted Drive 0 as a single primary partition.
    • The existing System Reserved partition was still on Drive 1.
    • So I deleted the System Reserved partition on Drive 1 and the just created Primary partition on Drive 0
    • I then selected Drive 0 and clicked New and Apply again. Same result a single Primary partition on Drive 0. Drive 1 was left unallocated.
    • Upon completion of the install
      • Windows occupies about 15 GB in the only partition on Drive 0
      • The 500 MB System Reserved partition was placed on Drive 1
      • The rest of Drive 1 is unallocated.

How can I get the System Reserved partition to be placed as the Partition 1 on Drive 0 with Windows installed in Partition 2?

    Thanks.

  3. Can't update to 1703 / 1709, no System Reserved Partition

You do have a system reserved partition and its only 38 MBs.

It needs to be at least 500 to 600 MBs.

Your System Reserved partition might be too small and you need to resize it to about 600 Mbs. See instructions how.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: diskmgmt.msc

    Hit Enter

Click the system drive to view the size.

    Resolution:

    • Create a recovery drive:

For this example, I will be using Ease us partition manager:

    • After installing Easeus partition manager, launch the program.

    • Select the system partition where
      Windows is installed.

    • Click Resize/Move button on the toolbar
Under Decide size and position, use the slider then drag to the left until a desired amount of space is allocated - 600 MBs. Look in the Unallocated
    Space Before:
field to see how much. Once that is done, release.

You will now see an unallocated amount of disk space created. Click OK

Click Apply and OK to confirm changes. Your computer will be restarted to apply the changes.

After restart, log in and launch Disk Management – press Windows key + R > type:diskmgmt.msc then hit Enter on your keyboard.

Select the System Reserverd partition, right click it then click Extend Volume

Select the Unallocated space we created earlier, click Next then click Finish.

You should now have a large enough System Reserved partition to accommodate Windows 10 setup.

    Important note: Backup your computer:

When making significant changes to your computer such as updating the operating system, you should always backup. See links to resources about backing up by clicking the link

    Update the system reserved partition

I had the same problem "couldn't update system reserved partition". It appears that when Windows 7 was installed, Windows allocated 100MB for the system reserved partition. It is almost full, and has no space for what Windows 10 wants to put into it. BTW,
this error also showed up when people tried to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 a couple of years ago.

Windows 10 will likely allocate 450 MB if installed clean.

There are some options that I have read about around the interwebs, but I have not done any of them:

    1. Backup all your data, install Windows 10 clean from the self-booting disk. I do not know that anyone has done this successfully.

    2. Buy one of the data partition management software on the market and do the following:

prep: backup all your data and have a system recovery disk to reinstall Windows 7 if necessary

    step 1: shrink disk D:

step 2: move D partiton rightwards where there is spare unallocated space

step 3: move C partition rightwards

step 4: there will now be unallocated space to the right of the system reserved partition. Theoretically, you can now extend the size to 450 MB.

    3. Turn C: active, so that you can combine the MBR and C: into one partition, and reboot clean three times. This procedure is unclear to me, and I need to read more.

If anyone has any other methods, please reply. If anyone has successfully done any of the above, please reply in detail.

    Thanks,

    rick
