Windows 10: allow app download

Discus and support allow app download in AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security to solve the problem; I don't see how to allow Go To Meeting download.... Discussion in 'AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security' started by AnneAllred, Jun 13, 2020.

  2. Windows Store will not allow app download

    Hi Glen,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.
    We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Mail app is inbuilt app and there is no option to uninstall it. It is not recommended to uninstall app from PowerShell as it might cause issue.

    Follow the below methods and check if it helps,

    Method 1: Reset the Windows store

    I would suggest you reset the Windows app store and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    • Press Windows Key + R.
    • Type, "WSReset.exe" and hit enter.
    After resetting check if you can see the mail app in the list.

    Method 2: Try signing in using a new user account and check if the issue persists

    I would suggest you to create a new user account and check the issue status in the new user account. This would help us to analyze the issue to find the cause and resolution

    Method 3: Uninstall and reinstall the Mail app using the PowerShell.

    Follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    • Type Windows Powershell in search box.
    • Right click on Windows Powershell and select Run as administrator.
    • Copy and paste the following command.
    get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

    4. Press
    Enter key.

    After uninstalling the Mail app I suggest you to download and install the app again and check.

    Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

    Hi,

    Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

    • Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
      Firewall & network protection
      > Allow an app through firewall.
    • A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
    • Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

    Let us know what happens after doing the suggestion.

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    I would like to understand the issue better, could you let me know

    1. Operating system and edition of operating system you are using?
    2. From where you are trying to download apps?

    However you can try following steps to if you are using Microsoft store to download apps.

    Step 1 :

    1. Open RUN box by pressing
      windows + R
      button on the keyboard.
    2. Then type WSReset.exe and click on
      OK.
    3. Try to logging in to store with your Microsoft account.
    4. Try downloading the apps.

    Step 2:

    1. Search for command prompt on
      Cortana
      search bar.
    2. Right click on command prompt and click on
      run as administrator.
    3. Type below command and press enter.

      Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    The above command will take some time and I would suggest you to wait until the process completes.

    To know the edition of operating system,

    1. Right click on This PC and click on
      Properties.
