Allow edit permission for specific folder path inside C:\program files\XXX in domain PC

Dear Microsoft community,Is there any GPO solution for me to allow edit permission for specific folder path inside C:\program files\XXX in domain PCe.g. all users who has access to PC A has full control over this folder = "C:\Program Files x86" meaning they do not need admin credentials to write & execute changes. Currently when our users using the domain PC are trying to write changes they are experiencing this error "you do not have permission to open this file, see the owner of the file or an administrator to obtain permission "Appreciate the support.

    :)

  2. Unable to change icons in Program Files folder, Program Files (x86) folder or folders inside

If you can create folders inside System folders such as "C:\Program Files" then you must have changed the UAC setting away from its default value. This creates a risk for your machine.

To modify things inside system folders you can do this:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt (cmd.exe)
    2. Type these commands and press Enter after each:

      taskkill /f /im explorer.exe

      (the screen will go black)

      explorer.exe
By doing this you will allow applications to modify protected system files, folders or registry keys without first asking for your permission.

  3. Folder and File default permissions

    Hi Hilton,

When you changed folder permissions, all of its contents will also be affected. If you want to change permission on certain sub-folders, it is recommended to separate it up to one level and change only specific file or folder permissions which are
    applicable to you.

To allow opening or modifying files, follow the steps below:

    • Right-click a folder or file, then click Properties.
    • Click the Security tab.
    • Click Edit…
    • Tick Allow or Deny, to manage permissions for your folder.
    • Click OK to finish.
