Almost 45k of system erros, the majority being disk ID 7 and some major BSOD with critical...

Well, after reinstaling windows 3 times in a week the desktop is new, because BSOD with errors like "paged fault in nonpaged area" and "faulty hardware corrupted page", and the boot getting in a loop of trying to fix disk erros and not gettinng any results, I noticed this amount of errors in my system event, mainly concerning disk ID 7 and some major BSOD with critical error ID 41.
I downloaded my Western Digital SSD software to do a SMART check and it detected 3 code errors.

After all this, can i be sure that my SSD is as good as trash? Or the problem lies elsewhere?

P.S: My Steam games where always getting corrupted files, as Windows if I had to assume, since in one of those loops of trying to repair the disk, I had to reinstal Windows, and when I went to do it, guess what, the SSD was cleaned-up to the bone

    Major RAID issue

    Any suggestions?

The PC might have rebooted overnight, as I woke up to find that the temporary IDE drive was booted to, but hasn't encountered another BSOD as far as I know on the RAID side. Still gives me critical status for drive 2, but i'm not convinced that the drive is failing since both drives individually have clean SMART statuses.

Is it possible to prevent Windows to reset many system settings to default after a major update (Fall Creators Update)?

I recently installed the Windows 10 Creators Update on many of my PCs, and as with previous "major" update releases, I noticed that many of the system settings, including things like:

    • Energy options in device manager ("allow device to wake the computer from sleep"
re-enabled for mice and keyboards which is annoying because I
      intentionally turned these off)
    • basic mode of displaying the taskmanager and many more get reset to
      their defaults.

Since major updates are coming approximately twice a year, I was wondering: why does Windows do that, and is there a way to turn this behavior off? It is especially annoying if you install a computer for a novice user, and after an update you have to redo all these customization steps again.

On the other hand, many things like explorer settings stay the same, for example things like "show hidden files" or "show file extensions".

    So the main questions are:

    • which settings are reset after an update, and what's the criteria behind that selection, where others aren't?
    • is there a list of the things that are reset during a
      major update for reference?

    Windows 7 Major Flaw

Thanks folks.. i'll give TeraCopy a try.. I didn't even know there was a 3rd party move/copy app to replace windows default app.

mikek75, To me it is a major flaw because this same issue has popped up for years in windows and tons of people like to dote over win 7 being so perfect, and all the bugs from previous systems were fixed.. if not a major flaw then a major oversight on Microsoft's part.

Many 3rd party apps are way better than windows default.. I wonder why MS doesn't get a clue and redesign all their stuff.

I have used Rollback RX and Comodo Time Machine to replace windows system restore, we can all think of better than Windows Defender, and now TeraCopy solves problems of windows move/copy app. I have used windows explorer replacements too.

You know.. someone should start a " better than Windows 3rd party app replacement thread "and list all the great stuff that's out there.
