Windows 10: Already installed 21h1 update but windows still shows 21h1 update in settings

So, In May I installed Windows 21h1 update and I had problems with pc so I re-installed the update.Now, in October I get 21h1 update in settings and even when I try to install the update it says "update error 0X800f081f" so I do know I have to install .NET Framework but the problem is 21h1 along with .NET Framework update is installing and the installation of update stops at 97%. Is there any fix to it?

The Windows update list of installed updates has always been a confusing & incomplete list. I don't think you had a problem at all.

That's because there is no 'previous windows installation' to clean up. As I explained in post #9 all the 21H1 features were already in your 20H2 (or 2004) system files, but were dormant. A small enablement package that installs like a cumulative update turns them on. There were no new system files installed, and no Windows.old folder created. 2004, 20H2 and 21H1 have a common set of system files and share the same cumulative updates.

If your PC had 2004, then updated to 20H2, and again to 21H1 then the underlying OS system files were first installed when you got 2004 and have only ever been updated by cumulative updates since then. That original install date will not be changed by any feature update by enablement package.

 

Issue(s) with 21H1 Update

Hi, all. I installed the 21H1 feature update today from Windows Update. It downloaded and installed in about 1 minute. After the reboot I found the following things: On top of the Settings window it said Windows Update requires attention. When I opened Windows Update it said "Please wait" with scrolling dots. That just kept going on and on. Winver showed version 21h1
Build 21H1 19043.985 which is correct but the Update history in Windows Update still showed Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 installed on 10/29/2020. The 21H1 Update did not show in the History window anywhere. It did show however in Programs and Features installed updates. I did a file scan to make sure the file system was ok which it was. I again checked Windows Update and it was still showing the scrolling dots. I uninstalled the 21H1 update and restarted but checking Windows Update again still showed the scrolling dots. At that point I restored version 20H2 with my Macrium image and all was well again. Anyone else run into this? I may try installing the 21H1 update again using Media Creation Tool but will wait for some replies before doing that. Thanks in advance for any replies.
