    Hello,


    Today, despite no settings change on my part, my ALT codes changed behaviour on my work computer.


    In Office programs : I used to simply hold ALT and type the code, and when I released ALT, the code would appear. Now, when I release, nothing happens, and I have to press another key to make it appear the key I press doesn't matter since it only makes the code appear.


    In other programs like browsers or notepad : ALT codes stopped working altogether.


    It doesn't seem like a huge problem, but I type thousands of words with accented uppercase letters, unbreakable spaces, special quotations marks and other special characters every day, and this is really annoying.


    The computer runs on Windows 10 and is remotely controlled through my home computer also Windows 10 via TeamViewer. I've used this remote controlled setup for more than 6 months without problems, so I don't know if it is linked, but the ALT codes on my home computer work just fine.


    I have already tried a simple reboot and I have the mouse keys setting turned off.


    Any help would be appreciated.

    It does do that, mlee. All buttons have tooltips with the alt code and a description listed in it.

    The masculine ordinal number in Spanish, Italian and Portugese? I'm not even sure what it is for ... lol

    ALT Key Codes for Special Characters List


    I find it easier to just press the key with 1 on it, instead of Alt+(numpad)49 *Wink

    Thanks for posting the information and the portable doc.

    Every Windows has Charmap in Start | Windows Accessories. It's great if you need a one time character, but not as convenient as learning the few often typed characters such as the ones Dick mentioned.

    If you want to go further with characters, beyond this thread then you should take a peek at Charmap

    Hi everyone, I know that if I press any key on the keyboard it send an ASCII code to the computer, but there is keys that doesn't have code, like ALT key, so What happened if we press ALT key? I am working in a project that use an ASCII code and need to
