Alt+Shift activates menu - an upleasant annoyance of AU version

The default key combination for switching keyboard layouts is Alt+Shift. Unfortunately, after Anniversary Update Windows often activates the current window's menu bar when one presses Alt+Shift. More precisely, it does switch the keyboard layout, but at the same time it treats Alt+Shift combination as a single Alt hit - it activates the menu bar. This happens in about 9 cases out of 10. This is extremely annoying, since in the middle of typing some text after switching keyboard layout I suddenly discover that the text I type is now interpreted as menu shortcuts.

If I make sure that I press Alt and Shift perfectly simultaneously, it usually works as before (no menu is activated), but in real life it is not possible to hit these keys with perfect simultaneity all the time.

Older versions of Windows (including pre-AU Windows 10) were handling this situation more gracefully. They understood that Alt+Shift combination had special meaning and that there's no need to activate the menu in response to Alt+Shift. But not anymore.

I can probably teach myself to use Win+Space combination for switching keyboards, which does not suffer from this issue. But Alt+Shift has always felt more convenient for me.

    :)

  2. Send to menu keys to access alternative send to menu

One hidden feature in Windows is the alternative send to menu accessible by pressing the shift key before right clicking on something to send to. Did that feature change to require the alt key be pressed with the shift key. So the command is alt + shift
then right click, then send to?

I'm not sure why my Windows 10 Pro machine requires the alt key to access the alternative send to menu. I have used other up to date computers where only the shift key is required.

  3. Startup Issue, No Desktop, Icons, Taskbar, etc,Just a black screen with a cursor

I have the same problem. Oddly enough, even though it worked after the Windows 10 upgrade, it broke almost 6 months later with the latest Windows update. In response to DrMark, there is an option in your advanced startup menu, "Go back to previous version",
that I was told would do that. (To access that menu, press Ctrl+Alt+Del, click power, hold shift, and while holding shift, click restart. Let go of shift when you get to the recovery menu.)

Hm, on my system Alt+Shift works as expected. Does this happen with all open windows or only with specific programs?

It happens in text editor windows that have the standard menu bar, i.e in windows where a single Alt hit would activate the menu. Notepad window is a good example.

What I do: While holding down the alt key every time I hit shift the keyboard language changes. I tested it with notepad and there is also no problem. Does this technique not work for you?

It does seem to work for me. However, my everyday typing style results in a different timing: Shift key apparently gets registered before Alt key. And for this key sequence menu gets activated, unfortunately.

This is something that did not happen before the AU.

Check, if you have ease of access functionality enabled. Or if you don't have, try filter keys function.

Keyboard behavior shouldn't change with AU.
