Windows 10: Alt + Tab is buggy in Windows 20H2?

Hello,

with the Windows 10 20H2 update Microsoft added Microsoft Edge tabs to the Alt + Tab menu. The default setting is to show the three last used tabs, but I disabled this feature completely to restore the old behavior. Yes, I use Edge as my main browser.

I noticed a bug with 20H2 (since switching to Edge). This issue appears on a regularly basis.

After I press once Alt + Tab there is a chance it would jump two applications forward instead of one.

For example: these are my last used application in the right order: Edge, Telegram, Notepad.

If I press Alt + Tab once, I want to always switch between Edge and Telegram quickly. But there is a chance it jumps directly to Notepad. This throws me out of my "work"flow. With this issue I really can't use Alt + Tab anymore without fearing it jumps to the wrong application.

And yes, I could jump back with Alt + Shift + Tab, but this isn't as comfortable as just pressing Alt + Tab without thinking.

Did anyone notice the same issue? Or am I the only one? If this is a general bug we could report it to the Feedback Hub together

alt + tab not working

Just found a really cool way to make alt+tab INSTANT!!!

In the launch options write the following: -windowed -noborder





This play exactly the same as fullscreen but now you dont have to wait 30 f*@!ing seconds to alt+tab back in!

Also you don't get the little purple/black checkered effect (only in Source games) from alt+tabbing in fullscreen.

i always just use the windows key to get back to the desktop [pops up the start dealy, doesn't need anything to alt+tab to]

 

alt tabbing increases system performance?

Skyrim doesnt work correctly you alt tab, but if you alt tab to it again while the screen is black, it loads up with the windows cursor over the top. If i repeatedly do this, eventually it fullscreens properly without issues. Slightly weird.
