    Alternative to Photo Viewer.


    Hi. *Smile

    I am using build 10147 now, and Windows Photo Viewer is not working here as it used to. The new look/appearence of the Photos App is very cool, but is there any third party software that can be an alternative of the good old Windows Photo Viewer?

    I want a program/app that will open a photo from explorer, will provide flip/rotate and delete options, and will shift to the next photo simply. A photo library organizer and integrated photo editor etc are not wanted by me.

    Any alternative photo viewer?

    Have you tried Photo Map Plugin from Betalabs
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-photo-map-plugin     ?. I'm not sure if it displays GPS co-ordinates but just give it a go. It can be seen as one of the options in Gallery once installed.

    The default N9 photo viewer doesn't display the GPS coordinates for photo with geo-tag. So are there any that does? Thanks.

    I've tried the following (might be more than you want):

    nomacs -> This might fit your requirements the best.

    XnView -> this is my goto tool when other image utilities cannot open / view a file.
    IrfanView -> I didn't like interface
    FastStone -> only installed to investigate , no real use

    I tried them all, and found that XnView serves the best. So keeping it, and trying to get accustomed with the Photos metro app.

    I can't figure out what happened to Windows Photo Viewer, doesn't work here either!

    'Windows Live Photo Gallery' works sufficiently though, if you don't mind installing 'Movie Maker' with it.

    Hi there

    What's wrong with Ms Paint -- still a FREE built in application

    Just set the application as default when you double click on the file from Windows explorer. After processing the photo you'll be back again in File explorer to process the next one.

    Set the default app for .png, .jpg or any photo formats you have.

    Alternative to Photo Viewer.

    There seems to be something broken in the Windows Photo Viewer app, in that it cannot handle % signs in the target directory. If you manually type out like this, it works.

    C:\Users\myuser>%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll", ImageView_Fullscreen C:\Users\myuser\Pictures

    You can probably hack your registry to change this, but I don't have the time to figure it out.

    I got the Windows Photo Viewer working in Win 10 64bit 10162 by making a modification to the filetype I wanted to open with it in the registry. Then right clicking on a file of the type and choosing Windows Photo Viewer, from the list of programs, to always open it.

    There's probably a slicker registry hack, but this method worked fine for me.

    The same code works for the other picture formats just replace jpegfile with pngfile, giffile, Paint.Picture, etc. (Paint.Picture does .bmp).
