Windows 10: Alternatives for File history

I am looking for a replacement for the Windows file history program. Paid or free doesn't matterWhat I would like to accomplish is the same as File history with an hourly update. I would like the option to select what files I want backed up regularly. I also would like a system backup in case of a catastrophe, that I can restore. I don't know if it's possible, but is there a way to update a system image with changes, but would like that as well, perhaps on a monthly basis or something. I really don't want to have to build a new system image manually every monthAny suggestions appreciated

File History not backing up any files

Thank you for the response. I had already checked that thread, but it hasn't helped me:

• The thread deals with Windows 8's implementation of File History, which is somewhat different to that of Windows 10.
• Most of the thread deals with setting up File History (which I have already done, precisely following the recommended steps). The third link in the thread might have been useful since it appears to link to a page that deals with troubleshooting File History
  (as opposed to setting it up), but unfortunately the link is dead.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To change the backup drive for File History, the current process should be stopped. I suggest you to try the steps listed below to stop file history on an older drive and restart it on a new drive:



Change File History backup drive:

• Open Settings and navigate to Update & Security > Backup.
  
• Click on More Options, scroll down to locate
  Backup to a different drive section, and choose Stop Using Drive.
  
• Plug in the new storage drive, navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Backup,
  and choose Add a Drive.
  
• Restart File History and configure it by referring to the article
  
  File History in Windows.

File History - Alternating Drives

I would like to alternate my file history drive daily between two 1.81 tb Passport drives to facilitate off-site storage. I can start file history over on the substituting drive, but I wish there was a better way. Also, in the process of starting over file
history, I have had subsequent problems accessing file history files on the off-site/not-current file history drive. Is there any way to do this somewhat seamlessly?

BTW, I have found great benefit from file history - just leaving a single file history system online and "on" all the time. Another major reason to want to do the daily swap is that it might be possible for malware to destroy both my active files and file
history if all history is online all the time.
