Windows 10: Am I able to remove a third party email address from an account created using that email...

Hello, When I created my Microsoft account used to log in to Windows, Outlook, Office 365 and OneDrive etc I chose to use an existing third-party email address Gmail. I have since realised that this was a mistake and it's causing some account management headaches. I'd like to remove the association of the Gmail address to my Microsoft account, so that the login credentials and email associated with Windows and all other Microsoft apps is the outlook.com address currently showing as an email alias in my account section and the accounts are completely separate. Unauthorized Emails from my account?

It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.

 

Removing Default email address from Email & Apps accounts

We understand your concern. Ideally, the first email address used in a user account will be considered as default. When you add multiple email address to the account for different apps, they can be removed as it is a secondary email address. However,
you will not be able to remove default email address, so you are getting an option to remove for the secondary email address.



The work around for this issue would be creating new user account. So we would suggest you refer

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10 and create new user account, then try using email address which you prefer to configure for every settings and apps. Alternatively, you can create a new Microsoft
Account instead of a local account.

Here is the step to remove that old email address.

Start typing an email address into the “To” field. As soon as you see the old email address being recommended as one of the potential candidates, use the down arrow key to scroll through the list of suggestions. Once you highlight the old email address, type the delete key. In many cases, this will actually remove the entry not only from the current list of suggestions but from future suggestions as well. You may even find that as you mouse over the drop-down list the highlighted item will have an “x” to explicitly allow you to delete it.

Just do this step and your good to go.
