Windows 10: Am I advised to "sign in" when I use the Edge browser?

Is it necessary to "sign in" to Edge in order to have my e-mails Outlook New synced between my computers, the e-mail server, and my Android phone? That's all I want. I don't care to have any other devices linked. I am ok with different Edge Favorites and different documents on my laptop and desktop computers. And I don't put any documents or photos on the Web. Bottom line, is there a meaningful advantage to signing in when I access Edge? Or a disadvantage if I don't sign in?

I would suggest you to try restarting Microsoft Edge Browser and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

  Open task manager right click on Microsoft Edge and go to details click on microsoftedgeCP.exe and click end task
  
• 
  Restart your Computer and check if it helps.

Edge Browser

Hi Chris-lfb, My name is Jeremy, a Windows Independent Adviser. I'll be happy to help you out today. Let’s see what I can do.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

1. Go to Start > Settings > System.

2. Choose Default apps, then scroll down to Web browser.

3. Tap or click the browser that’s currently listed as your default, then choose the browser from the list of apps.

If the issue persists, then try to change it the other way.

- Go to Search and enter Default programs, and then tap or click Default Programs (You will see two options, click on one with the green circle with a checkmark).

Tap or click Set your default programs.

- Select Edge from the list of programs.

- Tap or click Set this program as default, and then tap or click OK.

- If the issue persists, then try SFC scan and check.

- Scan for damaged system files. Right-click the Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin). In the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

- Then type dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and hit Enter.

Have you tried resetting your browser? If not, we suggest you to do so. To reset Edge, follow these steps:

• 
  Go to
  Browser Settings.
  
• 
  Clear
  Browser Data.
  
• 
  Close the browser and launch it again.
  

If the issue persist, follow these other steps:

• 
  Go to
  Task Manager.
  
• 
  Click on
  MicrosoftedgeCP.exe
  
• 
  End the task.
