Windows 10: Am I allowed to install Windows XP for free on Virtual Machine?

Hello there,This topic may sound odd which is true, but I cannot help and ask someone that may understand these kinds of things.I really want to try and experience XP again on a virtual machine. Just so I can refresh my memories a little; But, since I do not want to commit anything malicious or pirate XP, I am here to ask if it is legal to install Windows XP for free even if it is inactivated.So, my question: Is it legal to install Windows XP for free for a Virtual Machine?I tried searching on the internet for a clear answer but nothing seemed to be clear. could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Installing a Virtual Machine in Windows 10

Step #1 is to decide which virtual machine software you wish to install.

The three most popular choices are:

• VirtualBox (from Oracle)
• VMWare Workstation Player (from VMWare); and
• Hyper-V (from Microsoft)

Once you've made your choice you can find detailed, illustrated instructions for installing each one on the internet.

As a personal suggestion: You might find it easier to use either VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation Player. Hyper-V is more complicated to setup.

Between VirtualBox and VMWare, I think you'll find VirtualBox more user-friendly, and it has the advantage of allowing you to create checkpoints - backups of your virtual machine - whereas to do that in VMWare you'll need to upgrade to their (expensive!)
paid version.

 

How to install Windows XP on Hyper-V virtual machine?

I have a very old program of the year 2005, which fails to run on windows 10, because very ancient help system.

In fact the program installs on windows 10, but help files of it did not work with the new version of WinHelp

I've decided to create a Hyper-V virtual machine and install there Windows XP (service pack 3), which I got from

Microsoft site. I've created the virtual machine (named Windows XP) In Hyper-V manager (which came with Windows 10 Pro). But I failed to find any info of how one can install an OS on virtual machine. Now my virtual

machine runs only with command line interface.

My windows 10 is 64 bit, and comp has 8 gigabyte RAM. I would appreciate any help, permitting to install Windows XP, situated on one of partitions of my HDD, on the virtual machine.
