Windows 10: Am I best to factory reset the laptop? Or persist with recovering a half created account...

A student began process of setting up a new windows device for BYOD in school, went ahead without parent or IT coordinator help but has forgotten the password associated with the icloud account they created. They have not gone far enough through the setup process to have enough details in the account when I have attempted to help them recover the password. Am I best to just factory reset and start again with a new account? If so, how do I do this when I can't login to the computer? ASUS laptop

Recovering Windows License After Factory Reset

I am planning to perform a factory reset on my laptop. I have a few concerns about my Windows license:

1. Will I be able to recover my Windows license after the factory reset?
   
2. Is there any specific step I need to take before performing the reset to ensure my license is retained?
   
3. How can I verify my Windows license information before the reset?
   

 

Reset to factory settings

No I love Windows 10.....but my computer was acting strange so I thought I would do a factory reset and put Windows 10 back onto my computer.

If I do create a bootable Windows 10 would I lose the recover drive information that comes with the computer?

Could you give me the steps to create a bootable of Windows 10.....I asked HP if there was anyway I could get Windows 10 put on it while they had it and they said no.

Windows 7 Laptop - Cannot reset to factory settings

I have been trying to reset my laptop to sell and followed instructions to reset to factory settings as below

1. Select the category “System and Security” in the control panel.
   
2. In the section “Backup and restore” you can find “Recover system settings on your computer” and then click on “Advanced recovery settings”.
   
3. Then, you need to click on “Return your computer to factory condition
   

I do not have the option Return your computer to factory condition in step 3

Any ideas?

I also have the added challenge that my keyboard does not work as I spilt water on it.

This has taken me hours to try and resolve!!
