Windows 10: Am I crazy??? Has device been refurbished but, sold to me as new??

I just bought this supposedly new laptop approx. 2 weeks ago. In reviewing my privacy settings, I came across suspicious to me activity. First, the search history seemed WAY too large for what I had done on the computer. It didn't hhit me fast enough and I deleted it without looking at it more thoroughly. Then I went to "app and services history" and there were hundreds of records. Looking over the list, I see entries for sites and dates all the way back to over a year ago at least!. What the heck??! Could this laptop been used previously??? I also noted a weird set of contacts

Would You Buy a Refurbished or Used Keyboard?

I've bought refurbished devices, last was an HP Laserjet and still have it. The box had never opened. Frequently refurbished means a product with a serial number was sold, entered into a computer and cannot again be sold as new.

 

Refurbished Laptop?

Right, there are a large number of Refurbished Notebooks available, generally are off-lease and the leasing company makes them available at good prices. I got a Dell Latitude D810 about 12 years ago and it worked until Win10 came out, couldn't deal with the video adapter on the motherboard.

Also note there are other situations that produce Refurbished items. One is if they have a serial number and have been sold that number goes in a computer. If the device is returned within the specified time it cannot be sold again as new. I got a real nice HP LaserJet for $200 off Retail some years ago and the box had never been opened. This type of Refurbished usually carries the same warranty as if new.

 

Refurbished?

Refurbished usually means: taken to he service center/factory reset and restored to factory defaults, replaced any broken and worn parts.

So it i basically a used item that has been looked over and has had any worn parts replaced as to make it new again. But since it isn't a brand new item, it should be sold as such.

If the price & warranty is right, they are often a good deal.
