Will Microsoft ever write a VPN client for WP7?

Not sure where you got the impression that WindowsPhone 7 was an "IT preferred phone". The official word from Microsoft back when the new OS was introduced, was that it was primarily a consumer phone, with business features added later.

A leaked roadmap (file under rumors though) has shown that there is a plan to introduce many business features with the Apollo update in Q4 of this year. That's not official, just something that a few tech blogs have picked up.
