Windows 10: An application needs VC++ 2015-2019 version 14.24. I've 14.40 version already installed in...

I'm facing issue while installing VC++ 2015-2019 version 14.24 over 14.40 version.

Windows 10 version 1607: Problems connecting to the Internet KB3206632 Installed 12-14

Happy New Year? Please tell us if stuff like this is going to be resolved soon or are we going to have to put with them for another 18 months?

Edge fails to find web pages, WiFi adapter disables itself, Windows restarts itself and Icons disappear from the System Tray are ongoing problems on 2 laptops, Asus and HP, upgraded to Win 10 August 2015, both using anniversary edition version 1607,
64 bit, installed on 8-24-16.

• Edge fails to find web pages it found successfully every other previous day such as Outlook.com.
  Edge is set to open the same web pages every time it is launched.
  To resolve, Restart and run CCleaner before launching Edge. Post-restart, attempting to launch Edge without first running CCleaner results in the same web page failure.
  • Asus last occurred: 1-2-17, 12-21-16, 12-14, numerous dates since August 2015. Never happened on IE in Win 8.1
  • HP last occurred: 1-1-17, 12-28-16, 12-27, 12-16, 12-14, 12-10, numerous dates since August 2015.
    Never happened on IE in Win 7.
  • 12-22: CCleaner upgraded to a pay version on both devices. It automatically cleans Edge on exit to avoid having to manually run the free version every time Edge fails.
    Edge has been set up delete history on exit since the Anniv. Edition was installed.
    But the Cookies box was not checked because some need to be saved.
    CCleaner can save cookies for specific sites in order to facilitate their performance and presentation.
  • 12-29: Set CCleaner to run when Windows starts in addition to cleaning Edge on exit.
  • 1-3-17: IPV4 DNS changed from obtaining server automatically to obtaining a specified server 8888, Alt. 8844
    
  • Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3206632) successfully installed 12-14 was supposed to fix this.

• WiFi adapter disables itself and will not allow it to be re-enabled. Troubleshoot will not fix and restart is required.
  But Restart hangs and takes 30+ min to complete or a forced shutdown by physically turning off the PC is needed to resolve.
  Can cause Edge to fail to find web pages after restart.
  • Asus last occurred: 12-25-16, 12-14, numerous dates since August 2015.
    Happened occasionally while on Win 8.1
  • HP last occurred: 1-6, 1-1, 12-27-16, 12-14, numerous dates since August 2015. Never happened while on Win 7.
• Windows restarts itself for no reason
  • HP last occurred: 12-31-16, 12-9, numerous dates since August 2015.
    Never happened while on Win 7.
• Icons disappear from the System Tray (Volume, Power or Network) and are grayed out in settings.
  Restart Explore.exe in Task Manager to resolve.
  • Asus last occurred: 1-6, 1-1, 12-16-16, 12-14, 12-12, 12-11, numerous dates since August 2015.

Windows 10 version 1607: Problems connecting to the Internet KB3206632 Installed 12-14

Here's an update as of 12-30, 2 laptops (Asus & HP) both using anniversary edition version 1607, 64 bit, installed on 8-24-16.

• WiFi adapter disables itself and will not allow it to be re-enabled. Troubleshoot will not fix and restart is required. But the disabled adapter also causes restart to hang and a forced shutdown by physically turning off the PC is needed to resolve.
  • Incident has occurred on numerous dates since August 2015 and on both HP & Asus 12-14, 12-25 Asus, 12-27 HP,
• Edge fails to find web pages it found successfully every other previous day such as Outlook.com. To resolve, restart and run CCleaner before launching Edge.
  • Incident has occurred on numerous dates since August 2015 and 12-10 HP, 12-14 Both devices, 12-16 HP, 12-21 Asus - mid-day, 12-22 HP, 12-27 HP, 12-28 HP,
  • On 12-22, a pay version of CCleaner was installed on both devices that automatically cleans Edge on exit. It was getting more than too annoying to have to manually run the free version every time Edge failed. Edge has been set up delete history on exit
