Windows 10: "An error is preventing this Slide Show from showing." - Only with left-arrow presses

I have the exact same problem, but none of the methods work.


So... I have a screen saver that shows all of the pictures on the computer. Although, recently there was multiple viruses/malware that had gotten downloaded, but has now been taken care of. Ever since, when I try to hit the left arrow to change to the previous slide, it shows a black screen with the error message "An error is preventing this Slide Show from showing." I did my research, and only found a couple people with the exact same problem, but there was never a solution.


One thing I tried was to download Windows Live Photo Gallery (2012) and change the screen saver to "Windows Live Photo Gallery" from "Photos." Although, this had problems of its own. I could not move through slides at all, the shuffle function was broken, and it would lock up, not allowing me to go back to the desktop.


Any ideas for a solution? It's really bugging me and my family.

Use the following steps:

Navigate to Settings>Personalize>Background

Under background,

In the drop down list select Slide show.

Slide Show Screen Saver Error


I've been using the Slide Show Screen Saver for a while now but recently a problem cropped up. The slide show would run for about 5 minutes or so but then it would freeze on a picture for a bit and then the screen would go black with a "An error has stopped the slide show from playing" message. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

I would like to inform you that, theme slide show cannot be done on windows 10. However after applying a theme you can create a desktop background slide show.

To create a desktop background slide show follow the steps below:

• 
  Right click on the blank space on Desktop.
  
• 
  From the menu select Personalize.
  
• 
  On the windows, click on the
  background.
  
• 
  From the drop down menu select slide show.
  
• 
  Browse the albums that you want to set as slide show.
  
• 
  Follow the on screen instructions.
