High Definition Audio Device causes cursor lag spikes

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?
    • If it’s a custom built PC, who is the motherboard manufacturer?
    • What is the version of Windows 10 running on the computer? To check, go to Settings->System->About.
    • Did you notice any changes (for example Windows updates, driver updates etc.) before this issue started?

Please get back to us with the information requested above which would help us to identify the root cause of the isssue and suggest the appropriate troubleshooting steps. Meanwhile, I suggest to try the following methods and see if it works.

    Method 1: Disable Pointer precision

    • Go to Settings->Devices->Mouse->Additional mouse options.
    • Click on the Pointer Options tab and unclick
Enhance pointer precision if it has been clicked and see if it makes any difference.

Method 2: Update High definition driver

High Definition Audio Device driver is provided by Realtek,
try updating the driver from the device manager. Refer to the following link.

    Update drivers in Windows 10

If the latest driver is already installed for the device, you may try rolling it back to the previous version.

    • Right click on Start menu (Windows logo) and select
      Device Manager.
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    • Double click on Realtek High definition audio to open its properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab and click on Roll back driver button if available.

    Method 3: Update Chipset drivers.

Go to the system manufacturers support site, download the latest chipset drivers and install them manually.

    Awaiting your response.

    Regards,

    Peer Samie
