An unexpected error is keeping you....

    Computer help!
I'm trying to save images from the internet (Mainly Firefox) on my USB to that location, but it keeps saying "This location on Disk... is full. Choose another location and try again."

My USB is 32; almost 10 GB space is full.

Evening when I'm trying to move the file, it says "An unexpected error is keeping you from moving the file/folder. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem." Error 0x80070052.

I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem; but I went to bed, it was fine and now it's starting again.

    :)

"An unexpected error is keeping you from renaming the folder... Error 0x80004005: Unspecified Error"

    Hi Royce,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

Please help us verify the following information below to narrow down the issue:

    • When did the issue started?
    • What was the last activity on your computer prior to the issue?

For now, please perform a clean boot. A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update
or when you run a program in Windows 10. Please refer to this
    link
on how to perform a clean boot in Windows.

    Update us with the results.

  3. "An unexpected error is keeping you from renaming the folder... Error 0x80004005: Unspecified Error"

This message pops up every time I try to rename a folder, or cut and paste a folder from one location to another. It happens for all folders, except the special user folders like Desktop, Documents, etc. and existing folders in the Videos and Pictures folder
(not new ones - I cannot rename a new folder made in these folders). I can delete folders, and I can copy them, but I can't restore them (the same error pops up) and I can rename, copy, delete and move all files.

I have tried everything suggested in the Internet - I have run the Windows File and Folder Troubleshooter, chkdsk /f, and sfc /scannow, and nothing worked. The only way I can rename a folder is using "ren" command in cmd.

Also worth noting is that I have not tampered with any files or settings - it's only been close to six months since my clean install of Windows 10.

    Hi LadyTech,

Have you scan the USB flash drive for errors if not open the Command Prompt as a administrator and type below command:

    Code: Chkdsk X: /f
Replace X: drive letter with USB flash drive letter.

  6. Fat file system has a limit on how many files/directories can be created in the root. I think it was limited to 510 files/directories in the root.

Hi Just a idea copy off the data that you need to keep from the USB Drive and then reformat the USB Drive (make sure you empty the recycle bin) *Smile

Replace X: drive letter with USB flash drive letter.
I did that just now and now it says, "Windows has made corrections to the file system."

The type of the file system is FAT32.

    What does that mean?

  14. A root folder of a drive can only contain so many files, (depending on the file system used, like Fat32 or NTFS). I would count the number of files in the root, and see if you are over that, based on the File System restraints.
