Windows 10: An unknown "username" is affiliated to my primary email account so I had to use my Gmail -...

I just had to create an account using a backup email address gmail because my primary email address comcast said that it was already affiliated with another account. When I received an email code to that comcast email address, it showed an outlook address I couldn't fully see, but isn't anything I'd recognize and I don't have an outlook account. I'm concerned who is using my email to create an account under my primary email name - is there anyone at support who can reach out to me?Kim

Windows 10 Upgrade Primary Account - Affiliated with wrong Live Account e-mail

Hello,

I recently completed a Windows 10 upgrade a few days ago, and somehow my daughter's email account was entered as the primary account's email / Microsoft Live Account.

This includes all programs/desktop/email/user files/etc...

I have another Live account email address already, but I want as THIS primary account...

If I create another user in windows with MY correct email, it will simply switch to a completely new User, without my personal settings.

If I try and affiliate my current email address as an alias for my daughters (now primary user) account, Microsoft will not allow this, because my email is already affiliated with a different live account, and cannot be added as an alias.

Is there a solution to this issue, or do I simply have to accept this mistake.

Also may I suggest you change email accounts to one of the following.....

Gmail
Outlook

The reason is they both use "Step two verification". This style of verification means even if a hacker gets your password they cannot log in to your account. You see every time someone try's to log in that hasn't been verified you will get a text or a phone call giving you a final code to log in. Its very easy and simple to setup also. The great thing is once you setup your Email application with a specific "application password" from that account you never have to log in again AND your account is protected from being logged in from foreign entities.

I like the new outlook personally however Gmail is also damn good. Gmail also has an IP tracker that allows you to see WHERE the account has been logged in from. Anyway let us know if you wanna change over and have any questions. We will be happy to help and welcome to TPU!

Hi (HBB)! I am Alessandro, an Independent Windows Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

The easy way is to:

1. Open Gmail and log in with your first Gmail username and password. It will be the Primary account

2. Select your profile picture or name in the top-right corner of the Gmail, and then select Add Account.

3. Enter a second Gmail address you want to add as a linked account.

4. Enter the password of the second account, then select Sign in.

Repeat the steps to add additional Gmail accounts.

To switch between two or more Gmail accounts, or to open them side by side in browser tabs:

5. Open your Primary Account

6. Select your profile picture or name. In the list of linked accounts, choose the email address for your other Gmail account.

The Gmail inbox for your other account will appear in the browser window.
