Windows 10: An Update on Windows 10 Left a Weather Icon with Manage Interests on the Taskbar. I Want to...

Hello,I just did an update on Windows 10 and a half-a-sun with the weather showed up on my taskbar. When I press it something called "Manage Interests" pops up with top stories and traffic updates. To remove it from my taskbar I right-clicked on the taskbar and pressed taskbar settings and then went to notifications to remove it, but it wasn't in notifications. I do not want it on my taskbar. Is there another way to remove it?Thanks,Daffy D

To disable the taskbar news widget, use these steps:

• Right-click the taskbar on Windows 10.
• Select the News and interests menu and choose the Hidden option. Disable taskbar News and Interests.
• (Optional) Select the Show icon only option if you want to keep the widget using less space in the taskbar.

Interesting; did a Windows 8.1 update and after reboot there is an icon on the taskbar......When you mouse over it, it states "Get Windows 10." *Stick Out Tongue

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the notifications as below and check if it helps.

• Right click on the taskbar and click on properties.
• Click on taskbar icon and under notification are click on customize button.
• On the left hand side click on notifications and actions, click on the option “select which icons appear on the taskbar”.
• Check for the notifications that you want to disable it and turn it off, now check whether you get that notifications on the taskbar.
