Windows 10: ' and @ on a UK keyboard doesn't work unless I press it long

    I'm on Windows 10 and got a UK keyboard and when I want to type ' or @ I need to press it for a good second for it to show up, but when it does show up it spams '''''''''''' or @@@@@@@ so I always have to backspace it every time which is annoying and also it takes too long for it to appear on screen.


    It's definitely not a keyboard issue since I've tested it with a physical US layout keyboard as well on the UK Windows keyboard setting and it's the same issue. But when I switch from UK to US then those buttons work perfectly

    Long press problem

    Hello, here asking help again..

    I bought a new keyboard yesterday and was gonna test on a computer and then I tried games on it but suddenly when i long press W (the forward movement key) it just stops for a moment . Like Long pressing a key makes it lag. I opened up notepad and tested
    the keyboard out.

    It stops the long press for a moment and continues repeatedly.

    I tried an old keyboard and it works very fine.

    I tried connecting the new keyboard to my laptop and surprisingly, there's no problem about it.

    Long press works, Gaming works..

    Any feedback and suggestions will be appreciated.

    Enabled UK keyboard layout not working

    Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

    I understand the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely assist you.

    Try the below steps and check if you are able to change keyboard to a UK layout. Follow the below steps.


    • Type Region on the search bar and click on
      Region and language.

    • Click on Add language and click on
      English       and select UK eng.

    • Click on the UK English and click on
      Option.

    • Now click on add keyboard and select the
      keyboard.

    Keyboard settings (UK layout not working)

    I have a UK layout keyboard (shift + 2 is "), but my computer insists on using US layout (shift + 2 is @). I use a Corsair STRAFE keyboard.

    • In iCue (Corsair keyboard app), the layout is set to UK.
    • In Settings app, the system language is English UK. The Preferred language is English UK, and the keyboard has one layout, English UK.
      • If I add a US keyboard to it, and use Win + Space, two options show up to cycle through:
        • English (UK) - US Keyboard
        • English (US) - US Keyboard
    • In Control Panel main menu, there is only 'Clock and Region,' not 'Clock,
      Language      , and Region.'
    Please any help would be great!
