Windows 10: Android device driver appears under wrong device.

Downloaded driver for android device. Driver for android appears under Oculus device in device manager, therefore I cannot update the driver for my android as device manager has it in the wrong spot. How do I put the driver under android device in device manager? If I try to download it anyways under Oculus device, it considers my android device an Oculus device and therefore doesn't work.

This issue may have something to do with the driver. We recommend that you update the driver by following these steps:

• Connect your Android device to your computer
• Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  
• Locate your Android device.
  
• Right click the device and select Update Driver Software.
• Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

How can I reinstall the Android S8 device drivers?

I am having problems with my Samsung S8 today. When I plug in the phone into my PC I see this:





I have tried plugging it in over 100 times and it worked a few random times - the other 98 times I got the error above. So far I have tried:

1) Plug in two other USB devices into my PC. They both work.

2) Plug the Android phone into my Windows tablet and Mac - they both work every time (with the same cable used on my PC where the problem occurs).

Therefore there has to be an issue with the drivers on my Windows PC. How can I reinstall the drivers? I have tried downloading this: Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers. However it creates a sub folder called USB drivers with lots of sub folders like: 01_Simmental, 02_Siberian, 03_Swallowtail. I was hoping that I would be able to go here and find the drivers: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/. Hwever, the S8 does not appear in the drop down box and the search facility does not appear to work!

I have reinstalled Windows 10 and this has made no difference.

When I unplug my device then unknown device disappears.

Which folder contains my drivers? I am hoping that what I need to do now is:

However, to follow step 6 I need to know were the driver file is.

There is an option to select a folder where the drivers are stored by right clicking on 'unknown device' and selecting update driver as shown below:





However, when I click next I see this:

What is the make and model of the computer?

It can be pretty inquisitive knowing that the Android device was found by the computer, but it is not showing up in Control Panel. The issue might be due to the USB drivers that are installed on the computer. Kindly follow the below mentioned steps
and check if it works.

Step 1: Install the latest updates.

Go to Settings > Update & Security >
Check for updates. Download and install all the updates that are available for your computer.

Step 2: Follow the steps to automatically diagnose and repair common USB issues:
Automatically diagnose and fix Windows USB problems.


Step 3: Uninstall USB drivers.

I suggest you to uninstall the USB drivers from the Device Manager. To do that, right click on the Start menu and select
Device Manager from the list. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and uninstall the drivers by right clicking on
Uninstall option. Reboot PC, once after the restart, PC is going to automatically pick for the right drivers.
