Windows 10: Anniversary Update stuck at 99%

I went to bed last night when it go to abt 92%. Got up today and it's stuck at Getting the Update Ready - 99%. I got the update link here:

Should I kill the process and try again or a different site?

Windows 10 anniversary update got stuck at 99℅. I have waited for like 7 hours and still shows "Configuring update for windows 10 99℅ Do not turn off your computer".

I initiated the anniversary update on my laptop. The update was downloaded and installed. But on restarting it, the update got stuck at 99℅. I have waited for like 7 hours and still shows "Configuring update for windows 10 99℅ Do not turn off your computer".
Is it supposed to take this long?

today was updating hte Anniversary Update started Around 12 pm but since 5pm instalation stuck at 99% please help me to solve

 

Hold the Power button down 8-10 seconds or until the computer shuts down. Power it back up and the chances are very good that it will pick up right where it left off. I've had this happen to me a couple of times lately when downloading the Insiders upgrades and it corrected itself both times.

 

OK, rebooted. After restart, a Win 10 Upgrade icon was on the desktop, so i ran the upgrade again. The download went quickly, the verification was fast, and it took about 20 mins to get to about 75% of the update. Then, it slowed down. It took about 20 mins for every 1 percent past 75, and gets slower the closer to 100 that you get. I'm at 97% now after six hours of the update...
it may make it in a couple of hours????

I've upgraded Windows ever since 3.1 on numerous computers, and I don't remember but a couple that went smoothly. You would think that some engineering effort would be put into a trouble-free upgrade???

 

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping for a much better outcome. I don't understand what is happening there.

 

Think of the billions and billions of variations there are of Windows computers, in terms of hardware, software, and driver revisions. It's impossible to upgrade 350 million PCs without some issues. What gets many of us riled up is when people mistakenly assume Microsoft is at fault. Besides, simple logic says, if everyone has a problem, blame the OS. If less than a fraction of 1% have an issue...then the OS is probably just fine. Including work computers, I've upgraded close to 50 computers of various ages and processing power. I haven't run in to a single issue yet. That would be impossible if Windows 10 was the problem.

 

that didn't solve my problem... my latest upgrade got to 99% 2 hours ago and I'll prob wait all night to see if it ever takes. Just saying, in my experience, many upgrades of Windows have not gone without issue. No big deal.

 

You can always download the ISO, mount it, and then do an in place upgrade keeping your data and apps. I had to do the with 2 of my 4 PC's. Remember to back up the disk just in case.

 

I am guessing a normal download and install of the win10 AU should take about 1 hour unless you have slow internet. Long update times and stops at 9X percent is probably a good indication something has gone wrong. I have two computers over 10 years old with win10 July 2015 system and neither will take the win10 AU to successful completion.

 

this is a 2 yr old stock Lenovo laptop flex... my guinnea pig before I update my main home-build PC baby with all the important stuff on it... all backed up, but who wants to go thru restoring a backup?
still at 99% today, so I'm dl'ing the files to mount an ISO.

 

I'm having the same problem: the Windows 10 anniversary update got as far as 99% and has sat there for 10 hours now without moving. I guess there must be a problem with it. I'm leaving it running while I'm at work but if it hasn't progressed after another few hours I'll have to risk restarting. I wish Microsoft would put in some failsafe mechanism to give users recovery options if the installer has stalled for an unusually long time.

I am trying 3-4 ways to update my November updated WIndows 10 to Anniversary.
Windows Update in Windows 10.
Then: two ways here MS link below at Microsoft ... Update now or Download Media Creator Tool..

Media Creator Tool just says Checking for updates and I expect this to NEVER end and tell me what to do like all the rest.

All just hangs for days on end. I expect this like 99% below exes to NEVER END POINT and tell me I need to do something else. Dumb! Sry DUMB.. they are hitting some wall and just keep hitting the WALL! No end point.

Both ABOVE from Microsoft download and and hang at 99% with no tip to do anything to fix bug ..it will go on forever. (They are hitting a wall and have no response except to KEEP hitting HEAD ON WALL.)

I would be NICE if these major updates would also just repair components in Windows but they do not. Just Balk at end. My November Update worked!

My SFC /SCANNOW shows problems:

Tried SFCFix.exe from some site which just seems to be SFC /SCANNOW and DISM command in a package command ...nothing special.

Tried prior:
DISM commands as admin say "repairable components" ..in check Health:

Dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Claims no Source found.. ..I point to new Downloaded Source with Windows Media Creation Tool and same... Says no Source found even though I pointed to new SOURCES .wim or .esd too on disc with the latest mounted .iso from Windows :
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:N:\sources\install.wim:1
or stopping online update or both in Safe Mode.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:N:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

RESTORE HEALTH commands cannot work pointing to CURRENT MOUNTED .ISO SOURCE!
Even with a Mounted current .ISO of WIndows 10 pointed to as SOURCE in SOURCES commands in DISM

I am working on TRYING TO MAKE a SLIPSTREAMED .ISO and or DVD in order to do a nice classic REPAIR/REINSTALL with a .iso or DVD with MY MATCHING VERSION OF WINDOWS 10 or it will NOT WORK I am TOLD. I need the NOVEMBER UPDATE IN THIS!!!! Maximum PC says it will take a long time to have it. Windows 10 Microsoft does not SAY which version MEDIA CREATOR TOOL is giving you and whether on not it has the November updated included.

I think I need to have a FULLY SLIPSTREAMED version of my WINDOWS with NOVEMBER UPDATE and latest updates for my current version with Nov UPDATE in ORDER TO DO a REPAIR/REINSTALL of my current version to repair Windows and NOT lose my 365 Games installed and config. I cannot do a Clean or Reset or other.. Then maybe new update will install.

Current DOWNLOAD Windows Media Creator Tool .ISO Windows 10 should be the VERY LATEST so I can do this from this .iso.
I have Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.494) . I doubt this is what is in the latest WMC Tool .iso Download.
