    Anniversary Update woes

This is the driver MS updates have used for a WL-700N-M it worked on win 8 and on all builds to 1511. Doesnt work on 1607.

  2. The driver does work on my Win10 machine with my device (Asus USB-N53)
    Machines and devices differ.

Don't want someone who is looking for a fix to discount trying the driver *Wink

That driver is now designed for asus usb n53 and not for the wl-700n-m. Looks like mediatek/ralink/ms have messed this driver up, or since 1511 is now old unsupported hardware. Looking at other all other usb wifi its unclear which would actually work so i think for win10 im avoiding anything mediatek. I'll say again none of this nonsense would happen with win7/8

The driver is designed for the Ralink chip in the device.
The previous driver from the Mediatek site did work on my Win8 machine.
Mediatek is aware of the issues I had between the three versions I tested, no doubt there will no doubt be yet-another-version.

Have you reported the issues you see to Mediatek?

  5. Seems quite a few people had troubles with their WiFi adapters/chips after various updates. I gave up trying to fix my roommate's WiFi on his laptop, 'cause machine itself was pretty old and pretty much any drivers I COULD find for it wouldn't work. Even plugged into ethernet and tried to update them through WU. Nope. Weird thing was, it acted like the WiFi was OFF. And the F-key to switch it was stuck on orange and non-responsive. Very strange. It wasn't until I installed an old Wireless-G Netgear USB adapter that it finally magically worked.

So I'm back from holiday and back to trying to fix this wifi issue

I've install a dynamode gui for my WL-700N-M.
The status is connected, SSID, PA, IP, gateway, speed, Rx & Tx throughput, packets sent/received details are all there

That means the wifi usb is wifi'ing a connection to the router, right?

So if it looks like the usb stick is "working" what is blocking internet?

Again do I need to make a change to something in :-
    windows firewall?
    Router settings?
