Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10166

There is a setting to turn on/off the "Hey Cortana" bit - have a look in the settings.

 

There are wireless carriers of 20m-50m DL speed around my location but they all charge by meter. Just cannot afford! *Sad

 

I have upgraded, too.

Unfortunatelly, some of the issues I was having with 10162 build have not been fixed :

1) Still the live tile of the Mail app does not work. It does not show the new mails, neither am I getting notified in the Action Center, as I have it already set up.

2) Again, sometimes when I reboot or shutdown there is an application (or two) preventing the computer from proceeding. I've succeeded to see the "DDE Server window" or something like that, there. It proceeds by itself after a couple of seconds but, why does it do that?!

Finally, no improvement in the text blurriness of numerous Windows components, to which I've already referred, but I was not expecting anything on this.

 

Those wireless carrierrs can be bandits when it comes to data that woulden't fly here either that's for sure !*Mad

Mine took 50 minutes from update to desktop, finished at 12:20 MST.

I was hoping my CD/DVD would start working but no such luck. It has not worked since I installed Win 10.

 

Looks like it may be a while for me. 10162 apparently put me in the slow ring. Changed it to fast, but still no update yet.

 

Restart the Windows Update service and check for updates again to see if that may toggle it for you. *Smile

 

*Ditto That worked for me. Windows update gets stuck sometimes. I wonder if that is another bug.

 

What bug ?? In MS dictionary it's called feature !!

I don't know why every time a new build comes out this feature needs to be reactivated. *sarc

 

Then, there are so many disliked M$ features!

 

Installed fine. IE shutdown bug seems to be fixed, Pin still not working this month, I liked that option.

Every company that provides online storage has terms and conditions. If they think your violating them they will terminate your account. Microsoft is no different. If you think the other cloud storage providers aren't looking at what you upload your sadly mistaken. If they are not, you probably shouldn't be dealing with them. IMHO
