First install via internal upgrade 14291-14295 has *failed*...am trying again (secure boot off)...system locked up during file copy portion...

2nd attempt with Secure Boot off: Success.

Have turned secure boot back on, after the successful install of 14295, and the same problem I had build before last has returned (thankfully a minor problem.) The Samsung Magician software 4.9.5 is failing to verify its integrity during Secure Boot, and Windows is not allowing the monitoring software to run and so Magician thinks my SATA interface is turned off/inactive. This only affects the Magician software, however.

Apparently, there's a Windows bug that has to do with driver validation during secure boot and involves Samsung's Magician software 4.9.5--I have the EVO 850 250GB drive and that is my Win10 boot drive. After I reported this initially in another forum several people there chimed in to say they had seen the same thing in their Magician software installations. If I don't turn secure boot off then the Win10 install routines think a security violation is taking place and stop the installation of 14295 from 14291 dead in its tracks and reverts it to 14291, the last build I installed that did not have this problem.

 

@magilla Just to test your theory, go to Tech Bench and see if you can download anything large, like an ISO (same relative size as the new build). Tech Bench That may prove/disprove Charter is yanking your chain.

 

Installed it and no issues to report on so far.

Yeah, tomcat, I can download an iso with no problem -- windows 10 iso in 8 minutes. Just guess I have to wait my turn --- in the morning at 4 am. Thanks for the suggestion.

 

Still no issues to report.. it did take a bit longer to install but that's not an issue.

I only had to reset the defaults for my audio but that's the norm with any update.

 

Currently on 14291-clean install, it treats all my drives as removable;
gonna press Restart-upgrade install, when I get back, only the two Passports will rightly be in the list.

That's great, but.. seems there is nothing to report anymore. *Huh lets find out what is wrong with this reporting drives as removable on clean install.
My drive is treated as removable in upgrade install.

 

K, that's strange! Must be a BIOS issue then!?
