There are many defaults that are reset during an upgrade (upgrade not update... the cumulative updates people on 1511 see are different). It may not be a "bug" and may be intentional. They may simply be setting it to off by default now.

There are lots of things I have to reset every time I install new build. For instance, every time it ignores my previous setting for warning me about the disabled firewall or smartscreen settings, and I have to once again tell it I don't care. Every so often it toggles me back to slow ring as well. It's to be expected.

Never been toggled to the slow ring. Still waiting for this AMD disaster duo core laptop to upgrade. If the bloody fan doesn't slow down I fear it will fly out the window.

I shall have to wait for my broadband to be fixed, I'm only getting 3mb at the moment with lots of dropouts.

I had a problem with Store and firewall which had to be turned off for store to download APPs. Tried getting solution from MS but nothing came out of it. I checked now and it's fixed.
My shnozola still doesn't show in log in screen but that's nobody's loss.
Some programs still won't autostart for love or money.
I don't know if it's by design but there's no delete file from Quick access in File Explorer.

Things are definitely improving...this was the first flight-upgrade through WU in several builds that installed (14372 from 14371) perfectly, the first time, and with secure-boot on in my system! Things are definitely looking up. They are getting the bugs squashed...!

+1.. For me resetting things is not a big deal and I find that having a dual boot configuration is the best way to go with 10. One is the stable build and the other is the insider. That way I don't have to reset anything or much when I get a new insider build. And this is why it's really a good reason not to use the insider program as a primary OS.. unless one is ready to do a lot of resets with each new build.

Suppose just suppose that this is a deliberate ploy by M$ to annoy nitpickers.....this system restore issue....just joking.
Maybe the real reason is they don't want users to system restore as it defeats the M$ objective....remember they are monitoring live our computers in order to find bugs, and any faults will be notified.

  9. I did install Windows 2016 Server and it up initially with Hyper-V and Remote Desktop Connection to my HP ProLiant Server running Windows Server 2016 Essentials TP5.
Booted into openSUSE Leap and from my VMware WS Windows 10 VM which installed
build 14372 I used Shared Folders to burn the Windows 10 Build 14372 ISO created using the ESD2ISO program on this forum.

Used Aoemi Backupper Bootable CD to backup the Server Partitions

Booted Windows 10 Build 14372 and activated using my Windows 8.1 key.

Right now I'm using Edge and everything is Microsoft. Bash on Ubuntu Linux Subsystem works great. Remote Desktop Connection works perfectly. I'll install Hyper-V and import 2 Hyper-V VM I created before. Install Aoemi Backupper and then start re-installing my other freeware and shareware stuff.

I may go back to the Slow Ring. It depends on how the Anniversary Edition will be delivered - does anybody have details on this?

Well the AMD CPU laptop just upgraded to 14372 and system restore was once again on. I always have it off either with a HDD or SSD as it has always been buggy. Obviously with other means of restoring. So begs the question why the opposite happens?

    Conspiracy theory coming up.

Microsoft will have three versions of Refresh,

No 1 : Refresh with data only.

No2 : Refresh with data and programs installed (SR)

    No3 : Reinstall with nothing.

    Possible.

  11. Hyper-V would not install. I'm going to do a clean install again and try to install the Hyper-V feature first. If it does not install I will have to abandon Hyper-V on Windows 10 and use VMware and Virtualbox. I can back to Windows Server 2016 if I really want Hyper-V.

OK Editing this post. Installing Hyper-V as the first feature to install did the trick and I'm now running Hyper-V VMs Windows 2016 Server Essentials (I can "remotely" (from my Windows 10 host) log into and a Windows 10 VM.

I'll start installing other features after I create another image.

It may be hilarious to you but it is not to me. I don't give a toss about re-setting mine but I support about 20 other people's computers and I don't want to spend hours fixing something that could take 4 min with a restore.

And, oh, yes, guess how many have up to date images on hand to restore from.

So, in short, it is not about me, it is about the other supported comps that I have chosen to set restore to on.
