Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14905 for PC and Mobile

Don't feel bad, I have the same issue here....*cry

 

I clean installed again and used wushowhide to hide intel HD Graphics 4600 and Update didn't download the problem driver.

However Windows Insider page shows Get Started and then says Not connected to the Internet. As you can see I am.

EDIT: Makes me think the problem is at Microsoft's end

 

I received new build on one computer, but not on the other on -- same internet connection. Don't know why, but that happens frequently for me. I installed my build on my second computer from esd-iso made from first computer. GO FIGURE

 

Posted that 5 minutes ago, clicked Check updates once more and it started downloading 14905. Fired up three virtual machines, all downloading 14905.

Again, what is definitely proved beyond reasonable doubt is that Dona reads this thread, noticed an Insider in distress and told Redmond geeks to speed up the delivery servers *Smile

Wait for the self destruct sequence on re start. *Shock

 

I spoke too soon about the new build being good, when I clicked on the power symbol, the pc returned to desktop instead of offering the 3 options. As soon as I switched on today, there was a message asking whether the forced shutdown was intentional or accidental, so I sent the details to Microsoft. It looks like I will have to force shutdown when I have finished tonight.
How come I had the new build only a couple of hours after Brink's announcement in Blighty when we usually have to wait much longer?

 

You don't need to force shutdown, right click start button and use shutdown or sign out.

 

... or press ALT + F4 to show Shut Down Windows prompt, that's what I use:

 

As was mentioned in Dona's blogpost, you can shutdown the pc by clicking on Windows Key + X on your keyboard and then choosing the appropriate option in the shortcut menu. You don't have to revert to force shutdown the machine if you don't have to.

 

Yeah, I know. Fortunately, I found the posts describing the dll that needed to be replaced. Once I did that, the rest of it worked pretty well. All's good.

 

I see what you mean, the right click certainly works, I just normally left click on the window, and then on the power symbol at the lower left. Now I see there are lots of options.

 

Just to add one more option, it works, too: Press WIN + L to lock Windows, or sign out, then shut down from lock screen.
