I didn't see that, just the Admin permission thing. You on 32 or 64 bit?

 

Glad it went smooth. UUP option is all there is now, as far as anybody can determine. They yanked the .esd method, we believe, starting with 15042.

 

I gave up with trying to make .iso when UUP downloads started --- too much hassle for me. So far, I'm OK. Just testing the builds as they download. Looking for problems that bear reporting.

 

Windows Defender issue continues - trying to scan, freezes. Reported to Hub

 

I'm on 64 bit. This is the error.

 

This was a surprise. Everything went smoothly again with UUP. I notice there's still no watermark. Maybe we're finished with that for rs2?

 

Another pleasant surprise

 

Not a very good track record for UUP to ISO method, build 15046 being 8th UUP upgrade and second where making ISO is not possible (the other build UUP to ISO did not work was 15025).

I am working on this all the time, will post in UUP to ISO tutorial thread if I find a workaround or to confirm making ISO is not possible.

 

I turned UUP off and received an install.esd file. It successfully created an ISO.

 

Yes, ESD method seems to be working again. Strange.

 

Update process was a bit rough. At one point the physical machine froze and produced a message asking if I had sound problem.
Got though it OK. Disk cleanup has changed. It scans for previous windows installations on the first pass - no option to clean system files. That's a plus as far as I'm concerned. Since the ESD method has returned I'm going to try to create an ISO file in a VM.

I note the "allow install of window32 apps only" option is missing *Smile.

I would set this immediately as I rarely use Store apps!

 

Exactly the same happened on AU version.

Once the watermark disappeared, all we got in build upgrades were largely final cosmetic/minor feature changes and bug fixes. So what you see now is largely CU version in terms of major features.

After that build upgrades came really thick and fast (forget Patch Tuesday now until release). Some build upgrades were only one or two days apart. From now on, I will probably only upgrade weekly and take whatever version I get.

Once CU has been released, then the first Insider build upgrade thereafter will go back to having a watermark (assuming we keep to same pattern as for AU).
