I really don't understand what you're talking about, Marty, but I've never had any conflicts between my Insider partition and my RTM partition. So far, too, graphics is fine.

Both of my test machines made it through the upgrade with nary hitch nor glitch. Fired off the upgrades after dinner last night (01:30 AM GMT/UCT) and sat down at my desk to the "Hi!" screens on both machines this morning. Cleaning up afterward also went without difficulty. My "old build" size is now running around 26 GB on both machines. Now using the "Repair-WindowsImage" PowerShell cmdlets to manipulate DISM, I see that /scanhealth gives these latest images a clean bill of health. RAPR (DriverStore Explorer) did turn up some duplicate/obsolete drivers in a quick scan over the device drivers on those machines. Also, Disk Cleanup showed a non-zero value on the "Device Driver Packages" entry for the desktop (2.26 MB) as well. Because I keep drivers on my test machines as pristine as possible, that tells me the latest build does bring some of its own drivers into the mix. PatchCleaner shows zero files orphaned on both test machines, so it looks like no component store post-install cleanup is needed. And finally, SFC /Scannow shows everything is copascetic on those machines as well. Here's a PowerShell screensnap from the Dell Venue Pro 11 7130 hybrid laptop by way of illustration:

All in all, a smooth flight into the latest release for yours truly and his two test PCs.

    Hi,

That is always good practice since Windows is easily "confused" when it comes to owner rights of files and folders.
D:\ could be any letter of the alphabet of course.
I find it also much more practical when you use Explorer a lot etc.

    Cheers, *Wink

Well, at long last I no longer get a black screen at the tail-end of the install, and I noticed this was fixed for Ed, too, so apparently Microsoft has squashed that particular bug. But here's another:

When I go to desktop/right-click/personalize/lock screen, the lock screen options stay open for about 5 seconds and then simply close. This does not happen with any other Personalize option, and it is perfectly repeatable with Lock Screen (I want to change it but can't atm because of this.) Wondering if anyone else has seen this...?

    Nevermind...it's a known Issue.

"Navigating to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen may crash Settings app."

Wouldn't you know that the first time in eons I want to change the lock screen it isn't working...! Otherwise, though, smooth sailing with WU upgrade install, I'm glad to say.

I had a successful install even though it took longer than normal (~1hr). Did a disk clean up after a macrium clone but the ~BT folder remained. Did another disk clean, folder still remained. Looked at it, appeared to be empty so did a delete. Windows balked at that notion, but upon my insistence, it deleted it. No ill effects so far. knock...knock.

    Hi,

Fine, but you do not need to have a drive letter assigned to achieve that.

No because drive letters are only assigned once OS boots.

Yes, I dual-booted for years and never once saw Windows get confused about the partition it boots from, because even though you may have another version of Windows installed to D:\, let's say, when you boot from that partition it always becomes c:\, and the other version of Windows changes from c:\ to d:\, etc. No matter how many versions of Windows you have installed in a dual-tri-quad-boot arrangement, etc., there is always only one C:\ drive (partition) after boot. Also, being able to see all your partitions is handy when you want to move files to the other version of Windows partition(s) so that when you boot from it you can install them, etc.

Now, it is possible that the human operator might get confused about things from time to time, certainly...*Wink So he might want to hide these partitions from himself, but Windows won't--it always knows the partition from whence it boots and where other Windows installation partitions are located in my experience.
