Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17083 for PC Fast+Skip

Looks like Windows defender (security center) is getting new features (not available yet - open blank pages)

 

No Tony even right click and open didn't work. Clock wouldn't open or the start menu. Had to revert the video driver to an MS basic one and it's OK now but will only run in 4:3 aspect ratio. I'll do some backups and have a play later.

 

After the successful update to 17083 I ran Disk Cleanup and after it completed the machine spontaneously rebooted. Then windows.old still and I deleted it with unlocker. Here are the contents of the recycle bin.

Doing a full backup now. I need some sleep. I consider this the best update experience to date with the exception of the spontaneous reboot. I wish the best of luck to everybody. If anybody wants an ISO for any reason PM me.

 

Did you install that build? If not, it’s going to install before you are offered 17083.1000.

 

I used UUPDump to update. Right now it's been 51 minutes since I hit install and it's at 84%. UUPDump is so much faster on my computer than using the Windows Update.

Thanks It looks like there are two builds of 17074. I suppose the 1002 should have told me. I guess I will find out shortly. I'm surprised its not going straight to 17083 considering I am on 17074.1000. Seems a bit extreme I must admit.

There are some issues with the search box in task bar. It stops responding. I try to search for snipping tool but takes me to bing.

 

Restart will fix most of issues *Wink

 

It only took 59 minutes from the time I hit install until I was at the desktop. *Smile The download and making the ISO took 17 minutes. Definitely faster than the using the Windows update that takes hours to update.

 

There are some instances of very long updates by WU, nobody understands… My update (via WU) was 50 minutes from check to desktop (post here actually). It was around 30 minutes at its best (before FCU in September) and your machine (if it's the same as in your specs) is way faster than mine *Smile

 

I tried it again and after being stuck for a few minutes it's started working again.*Confused

 

This is the first time in awhile that my start menu didn't fully load. I'll see what a restart does.
