Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast Build 17112 - Mar. 2

I just finished installing Build 17112 and the Store works just fine. I can shut the computer down and reboot without issue. She also goes to sleep and wakes up when I jiggle the mouse.

I'll check things out a little further tomorrow. For now, it's into the bed for me!

Edit: I just tested and my flash drive boots correctly.

 

@Martin, I do not know how you managed to do it!

I just tested. Wanting to be sure I use the correct version of UUPtoISO, I removed it from my laptop and downloaded current version from tutorial.

Next, I used UUP Dump to get 17112 files, then made ISO with UUPtoISO. I got a totally normal, working build 17112 ISO which boots to Windows Setup:

 

How odd - I did just create the PRO version, so maybe it depends on which edition? I know it is correct iso as I clean installed it with d:\setup.exe.

I am trying again with all editions iso.

 

The test I made was made using most probably exactly the same ISO than you: W10 PRO x64 build 17112 EN-GB.

 

This time - I used github and downloaded all versions as uup files (rather than just the Pro files), and selected PRO during run of uuptoiso, and it worked fine!

Maybe issue is with download of uup files if you just choose PRO from github. Trying again to test.

 

OK - tried it a second time only downloading pro files from github, and I could not clean install in VM at all - refused to jump to DVD press any key even though I set VM to boot from DVD in settings, and used reset as I normally do to boot from iso in Hyper-V.

Tried a third time, downloading uup files etc, and this time it worked!

Something somewhere is a bit flakey - I guess it is just going to be one of life's mysteries.

 

If you are using Hyper-V it can be tricky to get to the DVD boot prompt where you are asked to press any key to boot from the DVD.

For me it usually requires 2-5 attempts. The problem is that Hyper-V closes the connected window and opens it up again losing focus every time you reboot/hit reset. It's a pain in the butt.

 

Anyone tried the Microsoft Photos Companion for Droid or iOS along side the Photos App?
It's really hit and miss for me; just wondering about others experiences, if any.

Yeah, looks promising but it won't work on my Phone; it works on my Tablet though, might be a permissions thing...

 

Yes - I know this - there is an easy way to do it - Action, Reset, Click Reset in popup menu.

 

I think you missed my point! I was not referring to the reset function, but on the screen refresh and losing focus issue. Often the screen starts to display something and you get it focused too late -> the "Press any key to boot from DVD..." has already timed out and VM tries to boot from HDD or using PXE.

 

I just tried it on my Note 8. Working great for most parts. The UI is however very buggy and lacking in options when selecting images/videos to transfer. Everything else worked flawlessly. I find this tool very useful once it matures a bit.

 

I'm using Onedrive instead. Sometimes my computer and phone are in the same place, but not on same networks... One drive is working just fine for me. Upload is instant (most of the time), if it's not, open app and sync...

 

Cereberus, when I got the new instructions, I deleted everything about UUPtoISO, including its folder in my Windows 10 Insider folder, then downloaded and installed the new one. That way, I couldn't install the wrong one. *Smile I'm not saying that's what happened with you, though. *Smile

Edit: I just tried booting from the flash drive and it booted the way it's supposed to.
