It's just a beginning, it was introduced couple of builds ago but taken out to be worked on further.

  2. Well it certainly needs some work & without the Feedback Hub working I cannot give any feedback...lol. Having said that this version does work okay..ish.

Also there is problem with File explorer not remembering Ribbon status on start. It always open with ribbon minimized. So it adds one more click to some of my work flows.

That works best for me. Way faster than anything else to get what I want to see, a second Explorer tab.

However, the tabs don't remain if you close the entire explorer window (or, rather, they are not remembered).

The best links to read about Sets are the ones from Last Nov -

Microsoft will finally bring a tabbed experience to Windows 10

Microsoft shows off Windows a tabbed app interface that puts a web browser everywhere | TechCrunch

The ones in the past couple of days are making it out to be just simply tabs, when in fact, Sets is not that at all (right now).

This too - I suspect this is because of Sets.

  5. Thank you...that's explains what Sets is all about. Looks great. It would be nice (in the future) to integrate a browser other than Edge, but I doubt that will happen and it looks like Sets is closely linked to all Microsoft Apps.

I like the idea of Sets, but at the moment it is working in a way that really disturbs me. I always have 5 to 10 tabs open in Edge, clicking new tab for instance in Command Prompt, it just opens all those Edge tabs.

I had to disable it for now.

This too - I suspect this is because of Sets. I like the Explorer ribbon shown, too. Unfortunately, disabling Sets does not help, Explorer always opens ribbon minimized.

  7. I've noticed a few issues this morning.

On the File Explorer ribbon all the items work except 'Manage' when I click on that nothing happens. However if I go to Start and search and click on 'Computer Management' the console opens immediately.

The other issue is Command Prompt (Admin). If I open cmd via Start and try to right click and open as a admin nothing happens. However if I open the location of cmd (C:\WINDOWS\system32) then right click it works.

Finally I use pinned File Explorer on the Taskbar. To open a jumplist item I was able to left click to open the item in the last build, but now I'm back to right clicking and left clicking to open an item!

Funny how some things work in one build then disappear in the next..enjoying playing around with Windows *Smile

A fast and easy way to open elevated Command Prompt is to type CMD in Cortana and press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER. This key combination opens the first item in search results elevated (run as admin).

  9. Does not work here I'm afraid. (I get no prompt saying 'Yes/No' to open an elevated app.)

Does it open at all. Just tried it and it opened command prompt as admin so nothing to choose from.

You sure you do it correctly? Type CMD, Command Prompt is found and shown top most. Press and hold down CTRL and SHIFT keys, still holding them down press ENTER, release all three keys.

Command Prompt opens elevated, showing UAC prompt if UAC is not disabled.

You must have UAC disabled? It shows the prompt if UAC is enabled.

Not all disabled, just on lowest setting.

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Skip Ahead Build 17618 - Mar. 7

Some weeks/months ago I loaded a 3rd instance of W10 on a spinner, with the idea that when Skip became available again I'd try the registry hack to see if it would load. But I had only noted one of the two necessary registry edits.Today I booted into that 3rd instance build (1699.251), and tried setting the one value. It didn't stick. I joined the Insider program, and updated to 17115.1. Then I looked at Brink's .reg file, and saw that the 2nd value needed setting. Manually edited the registry, rebooted, checked WU and there was build 17618 ready to download! I'm typing this post in FF59.0 on Skippy.

Edit: further testing will be tomorrow or later, this W10 install has hardly any of the apps that I use on a daily basis. But getting it to install is satisfying! Store works as expected, as does Admin CMD

  14. I tried again...still did not do anything!! (I put the UAC slider to maximum.) No prompt...didn't do a thing from the Start Menu although from the cmd.exe from file explorer works by right clicking and Run as Admin. Any ideas?
