Finally got there. Left the laptop to its own devices over night. Woke from sleep this morning and on 17643.1000. Have no idea how long it took *Shock

  3. My experience was that it took a very long time. But then again, I did go from a VM snapshot from March 7. which was build 17618. *Smile

For me this build seems a lot snappier than 17133.73 which is a bit odd. *Smile

Could someone explain the logics of Sets > New Tab to me? How on earth can they call Sets useful? "New tab" should in my opinion open a new tab, not a bunch of Edge tabs.

For instance, I have set Edge to open with six various sites:

Now, when I click New tab in File Explorer, what do I get? I get those six tabs that I have set to open with Edge, first one of those six replaced with Bing search (which BTW does not work, at least for me):

The same in Command Prompt. I want a new Command Prompt tab, so I click New tab. Do I get new tab? Of course not, someone at Microsoft has decided that when user wants a new Command Prompt tab, he naturally meant to open a bunch of Edge tabs:

I fail to see the purpose of this.

I'm with you on this one. Makes no sense at all.

Should have called it "New Edge tab" but that may be only a beginning. There should also be an utility to define which additional tabs should be opened.

17643 still has the PIN bug during clean installation i.e. it asks you to set a PIN but no way to say no. Only way round it I have found is to install as a local, then change to MS account.

It is really is a bit of a pain installing as a local now, in part with all the HAL like menus "Are you sure Dave, Dave I would like you to reconsider, Really Dave I seriously think you should not do this", followed by the three security questions, made a bigger pain as you have to choose 1, enter a password, click next, repeat. Why can this not be like the old "hint", and an option to set security questions.

I don't think this is a bug but rather a designed feature since using a PIN makes the system more secure and helps keep MS account password and computer passwords separate during normal usage scenarios.

Either way, I ALWAYS setup a local account, and if I need to, I connect my apps to an MS account afterwards.

It is a bug without a doubt. It asks you to if you want to set up a pin. On FCU, there is a tiny link in bottom left hand corner saying "no thanks", or some wording that come to that. That link is simply missing.

There is no point in asking if you want to set up a pin if it will not let you cancel it In fact, if you click on set a pin, then cancel, you go back to screen that says "are you sure you want to cancel?", but still no option to do so.

Another problem is MS do not release isos of skip ahead and do not acknowledge unofficial isos, so will ignore any feedback.

Frankly (imo) the whole OOBE is a big mess now. The change to the setup questions being one per page rather than all on one as before is just claptrap.

  10. Lol, in my opinion OOBE has been total crap and ridiculous in how difficult they make things, ever since Windows 8.0 and it isn't improving the least.

I'm getting to like Sets though you have to drag and drop apps for adding tabs and the new tab is for Edge only.

I think I need to buy some tin foil, as I have tried everything under the sun to get SETS, including waiting a couple of days. I am convinced it does not really exist and the whole word is perpetrating a giant month long April Fool's trick on me. Come clean guys, SETS does not really exist - you're all 'aving a larf ain't ya?*Haha

    @cereberus

Did you read the announcement? It stated something like "for many users, sets will not be available and it can take 2 days for it to appear if you just enabled it" ....or something in that direction.

I don't have sets either and am happy because it confuses the crap out of me. *Smile
