now the silly question.

On a clean install IP defaults to SLOW ring, did you change to FAST.

oh...I think it's an excellent idea to disable Cortana if you don't use it and you don't want it poking around in all UWP apps that supports Cortana.

If I understood correctly @cereberus issue is that he does not receive any updates at all. And he also stated that only thing out of the ordinary was that he disabled Cortana, which should not change anything for nor against regarding his update issue.

I don't see anything that he could have done wrong here regarding missing WUs.

 

Great point! Also we have to remember that it can takes days before the new status gets activated.

 

Yeah got caught out by that myself,

mind you, only took 15mins to get activated

Last time I clean installed, registered to Insider builds and switched to Fast Ring, WU started downloading new build before I even got to the WU page. Seems it can take anything from 1 second to 3 days for the IP status to get activated. *Smile

Clean installed using UUP ISO on build 16288.....installed 16291 without problem.
Did not need to change from slow to fast ring.

 

It's only a cup game.

 

My other team - SevenForum premier league Guru, is still in it, this is my reserve team.

Awwwwww, shucks; guess a new Build means I gotta do my duty and check out Edge once more.

I will say that when doing a speed test on 16278 and 16288, Edge comes in at #1, Firefox comes in at #2 and Chrome comes in third.

Soooo, off to change my default again . . .

 

I just right click my taskbar and mark Cortana hidden. That said, I do need to start checking her out, but I don't want to put on my headphones for normal every day stuff and typing to her is just plain old search to me. Guess I need to update my webcam, if I can keep it from spying on me.

 

I'm not Cereberus, but every time I do a clean install, I'm reverted to the Slow Ring and have to remember to change it back. I think that's just a Microsoft quirk; probably not something they intentionally programmed in. Generally, when I change back to the Fast Ring, any updates show up pretty quickly.

 

Best laugh of the day, Cereberus! I can't stop giggling! It's happened to me so many times (while I was clean installing every Build) that I finally learned I need to go into WU and change that first thing now.
